2010 LEGO Kingdoms Official Pictures

Post by architect »

Steve Witt has been kind enough to provide Classic-Castle with official box pictures of the new Kingdom sets. Check out the new sets and new pieces!

LEGO history in the making! And I am the first to post in its thread. Does anyone find these similar to the old "Royal Knights?" I like how LEGO is moving away from "evil monsters" as the main bad guys. Does anyone know the prices and when Toys R Us will release them? TRU always releases the sets early.

EDIT: Yay for non-printed black horses! :) Thanks a bunch, Steve. And you, too, Architect. They are really clear pictures; a lot better than the Flickr pics I had seen before.

No, no they aren't. You can clearly see printing on them, same as all the old ones.

Interestingly enough, I was thinking the reverse, the pics seem to have been shrunk or something from their original size into a rather grainy version.

But regardless, many thanks to Lego and Witt for the pics. It's good to see how they'll look.

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but...those pictures are crap. They're blurry! They're really low resolution! Seriously nowhere near as good as this/these pics. Which, we've been able to peruse at our pleasure for months now. I still don't understand why TLG completely ingnores the fact that this and other dedicated theme sites can be used almost at their whim for free advertising. GASP!! Heaven forbid Megabrands see the products and develops a competing product in the two months between Toyfair and the release date.

Really though, thanks Steve. We're really happy that LEGO acknowledges us, the Afol.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.

Amen, brother. I think the pics are good, but even if they weren't, it's nice LEGO thinks of little ol' us.

:? I don't see any printing except for the eyes. At least the ones that don't have the barding on. But my guess is that they're not printed either. :) I hope. :(

EDIT: Oh, maybe you thought I meant eyes, too? Sorry if I misunderstood.

Man those pictures are terrible. I can't believe those are official pictures. I think Lego needs to invest in a vision program for the official photographer.

Are those textures around the windows above the gate on the large castle?

I understand your frustration. For some reason other people inside TLG (not Steve) are hesitant to give fan sites pictures of some lines prior to release. As you pointed out, this does not make much sense since high quality images were taken at toy fair. On the other hand, it is nice for the Community Team to help us out and give us official pictures.

I doubled the size of the pictures that TLG sent us. Unfortunately we did not receive high resolution images as we have on previous lines such as KK2 and Castle 2007.

I hope not! That would remind me of... the you-know-what brand.

Thanks for the gesture Steve.

Is that an attack squirrel about to pounce the Lion Knight in 7947?

I just think of the advertising they miss out on by not sending a copy of the sets to the appropriate site (determined by TLG of course) to be reviewed ahead of time. How much would that pump up sales? When you consider that this site is second only to lego.com when you google 'castle lego'.

The sets could then be raffled off or something like that.

In 2007 TLG sponsored a very nice contest for Classic-Castle to announce the new line: http://www.classic-castle.com/events/co ... nners.html

A new contest or giveaway for CC members would be a great idea and be a minimal cost to LEGO.

Yeah, the pictures are a bit grainy, but it's ok. It's great that TLG recognizes this site and was kind enough to send us official pics. The new Castle has some great new architecture we've never seen before, and lots of the sets have new pieces! Really looking forward to the sets!

Although, there are no impulse set pictures... :(

I find it strange that LEGO is so protective of these images given that several folks over at Eurobricks seem to have already acquired the smaller sets and have already done extensive reviews (complete with photography). It seems that while CC goes to great lengths to respect TLG's copyright and privacy concerns we really haven't seen a lot of promotional material for this new line. It certainly doesn't compare to 2007's contest. Kingdoms is almost at our doorsteps yet beyond a few grainy photos LEGO really has been silent about it.
