what about eastern dragons, the wise, kind, generous, cammel headed snakes?
does anyone have descriptions for norse dragons? I know theres one who snacks on Yggdasril's(I think I spelled that correctly) roots.
He who thinks you should look at the box that says "Quaraga" if you want to find out his username (about as useful to you as his real name). he only wants you to look so he can laugh about you looking there because he's a total smart...
Well, I realize this is a really old topic but these clips just made so happy. Not that I think these animals were actual inspiration for dragons but these beauties were so awesome that I just had to share
its funny
A discussion about this is the same as discussing Bigfoot, Yeti, Aliens and so on and so on.
Altought Bigfoot, Yeti and aliens have only been "New" to the mind of the humas since the hippy time, Dragons have been spoken of since Forever.
The grieks have talked about dragons
The Chinees have talked about dragon
And in the middle ages there have been spoken about dragons.
There is not knowing the truth untill you have seen one for your self.
Other then that all you can do is search for some bones:
I would have to agree with Napoleon. I believe that Dragons could have existed at one time. They could have been dinosaurs or they could have been a separate species. There are references to dragons in some old literature. Whether they really existed or were simply a analogy for a terrible beast or something of great power no one knows. If they existed they were probably extinct sometime during the middle ages. However, they could have died out sometime before the great flood. It's Captain Jack Sparrow said, "No survivors? Where do the stories come from I wonder?" Truth can be stranger than fiction.
Okay, I know no one has posted here for a while, but I just wanted to say something.
There is actuly a insect that defends itself with a spark from its rear, it has to do with the mixing of two chemicals.
There was also a dinosaur that had a huge horn on its head, inside the horn are two compartments that resemble the same thing in the anatomy of the bug. I belive that dragons are dinosaurs, somewhere in asia there is a temple with a detailed carving of a Stegosaurus in the midst of dragons.
There is alot more to say on this subject, but I really dont know much more about it than what I just said.
I know, I know, it's an old post, sue me.
I personally believe dragons exist. I mean, my Lord Launcelot's castle was destroyed by one... But on a more serious note, there are too many tales and legends involving dragons from all over the world the Norse had dragons. the English had dragons. The Chinese had dragons. The freaking Aztecs had dragons. There has to be a creature behind these stories. Believe me or not, but I have actually seen dragon tracks myself, and as a Christian, I read the Bible, and there are even references to dragons in there.
There are my two cents.
Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven’t seen the back of us yet
We’ll fight as long as we live
[quote="Napoleon" Yeah, and if you believe in Noah's ark, it would be even less time than 50,000 years. Who says Noah did'nt take a pair of dinos? quote]
Noah fitting massive dinosaurs on the Ark? I think not. The story of the Ark is hard enough to believe as it is, what with two of EVERY animal fitting on a boat. If you're inccluding dinosaurs then it's entirely implausible due to the varity of dinosaur species and the incredible size of some of them.
I have a theory about dragons
I think that dragons were large lizards with tongs that would light up like a fire fly and flicker in and out like a snake. this would make them look like they were breathing fire and since most animals are afraid of fire it would be a good defense against predators.
WHO KNOWS! I don't even know if they are real. Only God knows.

my theory is that dragons were some sort of large lizard that likely was hunted to extinction by humans *(because) yeah we do that a LOT*
Theres a story of a "dragon" in the bible, that fits a description of a large nile Crocoadile better than a "dragon" as we all think of them. No wings, no fire. just a big mean lizard that was terrorizing a region. Komodo dragons are still around, perhaps they had cousins that were more widespread?
If you want to go with the religious theory that the world is 5k years old, that means dinosaurs and humans must have been around at the same time. So dino's = dragons right?
If you go with scientific theory, then maybe our timeline is a bit off and some dinosaurs did still exist when humans really got moving?
the biggest arguement people have for "crypto" animals is that there been no body, or bones found. But you know... We have not dug a hole in every square inch of soil on earth. And we certainly have not explored every region of this planet. Bones get crunched to bits, bodies get dismembered by predetors/scavengers and scattered across landscapes. regions that were once dry turn into riverbeds, forests turn to desserts. Time and weather erode bones and teeth into unrecognizable lumps of calcified rock.
Dragons might have existed. I have no qualms believing it is possible.
Really don't think they existed to be honest. IF they existed then they have to have existed when men first existed and as such their bones would have been found SOMEWHERE surely at some level. I believe they were simply a myth created by the Sumerians that got our of hand
