I´m not that much of a set reviewer, and I bought them for the figs (of course)
The figs are great, and the other parts in the set are useful.
The jester is very nice, I like the colourscheme of white and red, and another jester is a welcome addition imho.
The wizard with the black beard isn't as "dark" as I thought he would be. Nice to see that the black beard is finally official. Nothing new to me as I bought them at a BL-store a few years ago. But, great figs. Must have for castle fans :D

Really looking forward to buying these, especially the smaller castle :D . I like the colorscheme but it's allot like the royal knights (at least the one faction) so they may end up as a noble house under the royal knights. The dragon guys on the other hand are wonderful and will likely become a major faction for me. Love the smaller sets, love the theme.

Thanks, Kevin, for posting your own pictures here. They're fantastically clear, and they've added to my excitement about the possibility of acquiring a couple of the wizards. I'm a little disappointed about the plain torso, but I guess that's to be expected given the lack of printing on the blue wizard's torso. With any luck, however, there will be a nobleman released at some point for the green faction, and we'll be able to expropriate his torso for the wizard.

Dale,

I did just put together almost every castle from 1984 to 1993 and I have to say I was rather impressed by their style. I have several KKII sets and to me these really are all time lows... though some interesting and somewhat useful pieces at times.

I like the big castle and am really hoping to pick one up. I wish it had been the dragon's castle as they seem to be picking up the baddie part by their look and for once the bad guys should start with the cool big set not in year two or three. To be fair I may just swap them over if I get enough of the dragon knights (Which I will use as a non-evil faction).

In the end I am happy with these sets and would like to thank Steve for the neat pictures.

Once more of us start getting these sets I look forward to some good conversations about them!

Hey Heir, I would agree the classics do have a nice style. Black Monarchs is my favorite. I just don't think the classics were head and shoulders above the latest castle designs. I would consider them on par. Each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

I also agree that the castles really started to fall behind in KK1 and through KK2. Vladeks Dark Fortress wasn't all that bad IMHO.

Great pics Steve. It is interesting to see the wizard so clear and huge!

I am really excited about the new sets. I really want to put together the large lion castle. It appears to be very modular and a pair of them could make quite a nice castle without much modding needed. I look forward to discussing every brick from the Kingdoms line. (especially the new bricks!)

Great pics Kevin . thank you.

This just makes me want a dark green wizard even more.

Is it just me or does the green hat, black band and gold buckle make you think of a Leprechaun. :D

Nobody knows for sure when they are coming out (If not, somebody prove me wrong), but probably June. If not June, Fall. But I'm hoping for June. The impulse sets have started appearing in S@H in certain countries already, so we're getting pretty close.

And yes, they do look really cool. :)
