Pink Knights?

Post by Count Blacktron »

Dear LEGO,

The 2010 Kingdom/Castle assortment is out all around the world now and we thank you for these sets. However, there seems to be a serious problem with paint applications to the red/white knights. The overcoat of white on the red torso is simply not thick enough or not the proper mixture as the color underneath is visible clearly on these minifigures. It causes them to appear pink.

I would like to purchase these fine assortments for myself and children in my home, but I expect a higher standard from LEGO because you have set the bar so high in the past. My purchasing of the 2010 Kingdoms line is met with some trepidation as I cannot tell whether these figures will appear poorly from sealed boxes. Please correct the color error in the 2010 Kingdom sets; the red/white Lion faction appears to be slightly pink from embarrassment.

Thank you.

The same Pink Error seems to affect the horse barding accessory in sets 7946 and 7947 as well making for an unacceptable pink/red Lion faction that should be white/red.

I have purchased all but the two larger sets, multiples of the smaller ones.

All the ones I have handled look red. Not a hue of pink to them.

I hope this helps.

Side note.

The TRU in Tacoma, WA is hiding the impluse Kingdoms sets behind the City impulse sets deep in the dark regions of the shelf.

I wouldn't let my wife leave until I got those two.

Hooray! Looks like there was only a "bad batch". When I go to the Lego store June 1st or 2nd, I'll see if I get pink or white.

I agree that the torso plastic is red in all new lion figures. However, the white printing is not thick enough to cover the original red plastic. This creates a pink hue on the "white" quarters of the new torsos. Do your knights exhibit this trait?

In 1995 TLG avoided this problem with the Royal Knight's by printing red on white torsos. This may be the one case where the China produced impulse set jester torso is higher quality than the European produced torsos...

Oh, you two have me all confused on pins and needles. We need a broad sample from all available markets with pictures to get to the bottom of this.

Those darn poor quality figs coming out of China. I tells ya, LEGO needs pull their socks up and make sure those thing have a better quality than what we're getting...What's that you say?...The fig with the bad printing is a made in Denmark piece?...Oh...Um...OK...

I purchased the castle sets last week in Germany, and the figs I have are fine.
At least, those that are in the big castle set, since that is the only box I've opened so far.

I am definately concerned about the paint issue. I have one of each of the sets at this point. I recieved pinkish looking knights in King's Castle, and Knight's Showdown. I got a good white torso in the Outpost attack set. The Barding in King's Castle and Prison Tower escape both had the same problem. Strange that I got both good and poor quality figs right off the bat like that.

I have not called LEGO about the quality issue as of today. I plan on contacting customer service after I see how this pans out here at CC. Hopefully this can be solved very soon. I always purchase multiples and will be waiting eagerly to see what happens with this quality issue.

Hello!

No pink here.
So far I got the jester from 7953 and the knight from 7950. White is white and red is red.

It is heartening to see that some of you have got some that have 'good' printing. It hints that there may have only been relatively few come off the line with light printing before it was discovered. With luck, the pinkish ones will bevery much extinct with future production runs.
