I'm pretty sure my first Castle set was 8799: Knights' Castle Wall. Lots of fun. :D

My first castle set was 6076 Dark Dragon's Den. Soon, I would get 6078 Royal Drawbridge. I still have both sets, although some parts are missing :? .

My first castle set was 6026 "King Leo". That combined with 6032 "Catapult Crusher" got me hooked on the Lego Castle sets.

My first Castle set was 375/6075 Yellow Castle which I got when I was in grade 2 after I was discharged from the hospital where I had received bilateral tympanostomies. My mom took me to a store where I picked it out from the selection of toys. I was 7 at the time and had Lego since I was 3. I had countless hours of adventure with this set. I used to use the figs as my playing pieces when I played checkers with my brother.

I'm not sure what ones I got first, but I didn't have that many when I was young. Of course, I thought I had tons, but now I realize it wasn't that much, really.

Here's the list:

6039 (Twin-Arm Launcher, 1988)
6060 (Knight’s Challenge, 1989)
6077-2 (Forestmen’s River Fortress, 1989)
6085 (Black Monarch’s Castle, 1988) -- TWO copies
6016 (Knight’s Arsenal, 1987)

I didn't realize I had two copies of the Black Monarch's Castle until I broke out my old legos last summer. (Oh yes, I said "legos", plural -- deal with it!) ;-)

My favorite was the Knight's Arsenal, because it had wheels and a way to harness a cart to a horse, and I spent most of my youth devising ever-fancier carts for that horse to pull.

I've also "inherited" (a.k.a. stolen) my sibling's sets, so I have one that had a ghost in it.... oh, I so coveted that ghost when I was young, and my sister had it, and she just didn't appreciate it.

Since I've been looking at my old sets and minifigs, I've come to realize I know just about NOTHING about the various factions. I didn't even know there were good guys and bad guys till this year; it all went over my head when I was younger. I'm still not that interested in factions, but I feel I ought to at least become more educated about them. I guess I'll have to do a bit of research.

6030 Catapult for me. The kid who gave me that at my 6th birthday party has a lot to answer for

Hello!

There were not. They were all just minifigs with smiley faces. The whole good-guy-bad-guy-crap was made up afterwards. There is not much of a backstory for those old factions, either, no names, no nothing. And none is needed. Everybody is entitled to use their figs as they want to.

What brought me out of my dark age was this series of promo sets at my local gas station (not just these three - there were ten total from various themes) - they were $2 with a tank of gas, so I figured "why not?" and got one. That brought back all the great memories, and I quickly bought all of the series of promo sets each time I went by that gas station.

Interesting that the same thing was happening on the other side of the earth at the same time, we call them petrol or service stations and the cost I think was $2.50au. Thank you Royal Dutch Shell.

I believe that I got my first castle sets in 1989. They were Black Monarch's Castle and the Forestmen's River Fortress. I am guessing that one was a Christmas present and the other a birthday present, because there is no way that I got them at the same time and I didn't get presents that big unless it was one of those two days. I was also into the Futuron space sets at the time but only had a few of the smaller ones.
