In the HowTo thread I posted a Youtube video that shows the process. Maybe it can help a bit :)

Also keep in mind that since the lighting in both photos is the same (and the original) and the blurred background of the minifig and the landscape is the same, the editing is much easier and the final result looks natural. Good pre-production preparation can make your life easier in post-production. On the other hand, compact cameras often don't have manual settings. This means that the light measurements in the two photos might differ a bit causing small light differences between the two photos - the more you go in night scenes the more you'll probably notice this.

I am not a photograph-guru, someone else might be more appropriate to give a final answer, but I think it's hard* to find a lens that can focus on an object 40cm away from the lens and show sharp and clear a landscape that's 200m away. With an object 5-8m away and a landscape 200m away, it works fine - you can even do it with compact cameras.

*hard or not possible with a lens that costs less than 300 euro :P

Woah. At this rate, I might ACTULLY be able to take him to BrickCon this year!

...maybe. That was the goal two years ago, too.

He did make it to BrickCon two years ago, didn't he? Dan brought him. Although maybe I'm mixing up the years....

I think he did make it, but the plan originally was for me to bring him. Which is fine. Or it might have been a doppleganger? We've had those too.

I'd have to look at the past photoshoot photos to be sure, though...

I see. Yeah, Dan brought the real one. Our Henry is a doppelganger, but Harold was the real deal.

I might be interested in hosting Harold's presence in my village sometime in the future. He can stay in my inn, assuming it will be finished by his arrival. :)

Everyone on the list signed up for Harold over two years ago. This current travel is nearing an end. I don't know if Harold will have a second round at travel or not.

Like I said, I would be honored to take Harold with me to the Underdark, Drow can be nice if they choose to be :)
And until he arrives, some other fantasy race will take over the bricks and build something new :)

Hey,

Any word on Harold? Is he still in the Pacific Northwest, and, if so, will he be attending BrickCon? Hopefully so, it would be great to get his picture taken all over the castle display, and meeting all the various CC attendees. I see that Thomas is signed up to be there.

OK everyone...

First off I sincerely apologize for Harold's extended time here. I was hoping to find time to either get around and take pictures around the county or build a smallish castley MOC for him but there's nothing doing... So I will take a few snapshots with him around my LEGO and get him sent on his merry way once more.

[EDIT] - Here is the set of the few pictures I took. Not much to show for his long stay but its something... I'll get him sent away ASAP.

Link-tacular

Thanks!

I guess I am a little late on this whole Harold thing.

Heck, why not!

I guess I throw my name into the next available round.
