The 2010 32x32 Challenge

Post by Ye Olde Republic »

Hello folks, it's time for the 32x32 Challenge. Last year's challenge was a smashing success and there are members wondering if we were going to do one this year. Yep, here is our challenge to you:

Primary Colours 2010
Always wanted to build a castle but haven't because you don't have a lot of pieces in the most accepted colours? Boring earth tones begone! Rainbow creations now have a home! Your creations must be made up of at least 67%-100%* primary colours. Red, yellow and blue eyesores....let's try some red, yellow and blue eye candy!
*100% only if you wish to.

**This is not a contest and as such there are no prizes, nor is there a winner or losers.**

The challenge lays as such:
1. Build a medieval structure for minifigs of which the base of it is on 32x32 studs worth of baseplate.
2. As this is a minifig creation, figs should be included.
3. Try and get it done before September 1. Use your own timezone.
4. Have fun.
5. Control your own action. If you don't think what you're building fall into the spirit of points 1, 2, 3 and 4 that's on you.

**EDIT**
Please remember to put 32x32 (in some form or another) in your topic header when you post your MOC so it can be listed in this thread. You're also welcome to post it in this thread as well. It also wouldn't hurt to send me a PM with the link just in case I somehow miss it on the boards.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Finally, a way to use all those pesky red and blue bricks! :)

I'll have to get started on this ASAP.

I"m excited for this year's challenge although it may require me to dismantle my MOC, Fortress Redband. A significant portion of my basic primary color blocks are locked away in that thing because they form the foundation that raises the level of the fort itself.

Finally, a way to use all those pesky red and blue bricks!
Lol, I guess we all have different opinions. I would rate my red and blue as at least as valuable as all of my old grey.

Well it's not so much the blue bricks as it is the red. It's an annoying color, IMO, and when I have a project for it, I have too little of it to use. :(

Either way, looks like I'll have to dig them out of the countless piles scattered across my LEGO room.

Considering that the first (?) castle was that yellow one, this challenge isn't that far out into left field, I suppose. 8)

Well up for this again, it was really fun (and challenging) last year. I don't think I have enough bricks for a primary colour castle though, so I'll probably stick to light bley :)

Hmmm, I must have been trapped in this years challenge during last years, seeing as my castle was yellow.

Then again maybe that is what inspired you to do this years such as it is......

I was PM'd this question but I think I'll answer it here too.
Does it have to be an actual castle building or for example could it be a dwarf mine inside a mountain?
Just wondering because I have one built right now...
If you really believe it falls into the spirit of the challenge, do what you want. You aren't cheating anybody but yourself.

Not that it's particularly important, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents here. Last year I built a Forestmen "ruin" inspired by the 32x32 challenge. While I didn't make a castle per se, I did put something together I would not have otherwise. To me, the inspiration and fun was what really mattered. In the end, this isn't an official contest, so I figure it doesn't really matter, right?

You are correct sir! I changed the wording in my original post to read "medieval structure" this year just so as to avoid such confusion. Hopefully. Look at Karrde, he says he doesn't probably have the requisite colours/parts but he's game to play anyways. THAT is the true nature of this challenge IMO.

He who thinks you should look at the box that says "Quaraga" if you want to find out his username (about as useful to you as his real name). he only wants you to look so he can laugh about you looking there because he's a total smart...

Looking at that amazing fortress of yours, I can hardly see how it would be worth the time digging those bricks out! Might as well buy a bulk amount of 'em from Bricklink... doubt they are worth much really. I can't imaging taking that thing apart! Happy brick separating... :?
