Crusader Outpost Redux

Post by lego2000 »

A small outpost somewhere in the Holy Land. Nothing too special or impressive here.

I think I remember your first version of this. It was nice then and this is still pretty nice. I don't think there is anyone here who wouldn't buy this were it a set; not that it looks like a set but it does strike me as the type of thing that could be done if they were to put out a Creator Castle. Something without minifigs, has a high parts count with few p.o.o.ps and a mid-level of detail. I like how you managed to break up the grey walls without doing something unbelievable. Richard's men look pretty good with their blue arms replaced with grey ones.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Thanks. I was trying to make something that evoked the 80's era castle sets, but with brickbuilt walls and a more modern touch (in terms of technique). I have to admit I'm not a castle builder at heart, but I am having fun attempting to build within the theme, as the crusades era of history always intrigued me in terms of architecture and culture. I figured gray arms for knights would evoke chain mail, as it seems from pictures that surcoats were for the most part sleeveless.
