I was searching around the shop@home website and noticed this neat game being sold:
http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.as ... n=595&d=70
Take a look at the cover art and let me know whether you think those two factions would make an awesome new ancients theme?
Castle and Pirates are standard Lego fare, but occasionally TLG will come out with a new historical theme like Wild West or Vikings, so
this isn't entirely implausible.
I'm hoping that the new spartan collectible fig won't go to waste. That helmet, spear, and shield could be used in a new theme.
What are your thoughts?
Dear Lego, a great idea for a new popular theme!

I hadn't put two and two together, but if you do consider this game and the Spartan minifig together, it does make one wonder if TLG might be testing the waters for a new genre.

I will admit myself to having wondered if Lego has ever, or will ever plan to release an ancient theme. There has certainally been many thoughts on the idea over the years. Speculation only at this point. It is an interesting idea that they could be testing the waters. Ah well, what will come will come, certainally though there are worse things they could release (cough)licenses(cough).

What a great idea for a sub-theme. I would love to see TLG come out with something from the "ancient" world.
Lego helps make history fun!

If by chance we do end up with an ancients theme, what type of sets would you like to see?
Here are my suggestions:
*A battle chariot powered by 2 or more horses
(with a driver and archer or spear thrower)
*A greek or trojan style warship
*Some type of ancient fortification
*An ancient style temple (like the acropolis)
*A philosopher's study
I would also like to see some battle packs too.
My last suggestion would be for a collectible mini-fig package that includes renditions of some of the famous Greek Gods and Goddesses.

I would love to see some Roman legion battle packs (since they have Star Wars and Castle battle packs), then you could build a legion! Also, some Gaul or the guy from Africa (Hannibal, but what was they name of his army, point of origin, country, etc. blanking on it at the moment.) battle packs. Maybe a Roman nobleman's house/fort (like the one in the recent King Arther movie). That could be a cool castle sized set.

When in Rome, I do as the Romans, and when in Megablocks, I do shots at the bar.

I think a Rome vs Carthage theme would do well. Elephants and ancient siege weapons oh my!
