What type of fabric does TLG use for capes?

Post by Jacob C. »

Does anyone know the type of fabric TLG uses for capes? (see pic below)

I'm thinking of buying a whole sheet of that stuff and cutting out my own capes, flags, etc.

I think I've heard of poplin being used for custom items before. Another avenue is to take a LEGO cape down to the biggest fabric store in town and ask there. Being a young guy, the second you walk in they will feel sorry for you and ask if you need help. hehe

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Type in Fabric Capes in the search bar here and you will get quite a few ideas. Printable fabric paper is what I hear being mentioned most and is what Lamanda uses for hers that she sells in her BL store. I own a few and aside from them being 1 sided and on white, they look and feel official.

Jacob, please use the "edit" function to not triple post please.

I know that many have praised Lamanda's capes as very realistic. I suggest finding her thread where she discussed what she uses.

Besides what's already mentioned, MMCB makes fantastic coats, tunics, and capes. http://www.mmcbcapes.servaus.net/

EDIT: Since his store is closed, I've found his BL store, with on demand supplies; http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=mmcb
