Lego Books

Have any of you ever written about lego? I know some make lego things of storys, but ahve any of you ever written about lego? And it was known that it was about lego.

Very few afol's have written books, but the number increases all the time. Well known books include Virtual Lego, Brick Testament, the Ultimate Lego Book, etc.

In the future I would like to write atleast one LEGO book. One idea of mine is a complete book of all castle sets with descriptions, price points, piece counts, and photos of the sets and all sub models. It would obviously have to be in color. A publisher like DK Publishing (which worked on the Ultimate LEGO Book) would be ideal for a project like this. Most afol books use smaller publishers though.

I wrote upwards of 30 short chapter books (10-30 pages) of Lego stories between the ages of 9-15, and one novel. They ranged over all the themes.

They were all illustrated with hand-drawn pics, and copies were distributed among family and friends. I also wrote upwards of 40 short (2-5 pages) stories, unillustrated.

Since I began work on my (completely non-Lego) novel, there have been no new creations.

Has anyone here ever seen (Or own?) a book called "The World of LEGO Toys"? The local library here has it. (In the system, it's part of a network of libraries around the area so sometimes it has to be called in.)

When I was younger I used to look at it all the time. Then about a month and a half ago I suddenly remembered it. I was trying to think of where I had seen this information on something (I had read as much of the book as I could when I was younger, but of course many parts I didn't understand or couldn't read.) Finally I realized it, and ordered the book back in.

I've never heard of this book anywhere else. Anyone have one or know anything about it? (Or where I could get my own copy?! :lol:

)

I don`t know about your library system (I`m in the UK) but here the libraries sell off books that are withdrawn from circulation, if they are in poor condition or if no-one is borrowing it. It might be worth your while asking about this?

Or look inside the title page and get a note of the ISBN number. You can put this into Amazon or one of the book tracking services, or even Ebay, and might get a copy there.

I am NOT going to suggest you should take it out on loan and then tell them your dog ate it. That would be a very naughty thing to do....and of course, you`d have to pay full replacement value. And it would be very, very bad karma for you......

As an employee at the library in Olds (a part of the Parkland System in Alberta), I'm afraid that I have to agree with Lady Val. Most likely this book will get worn out (Lego books tend to get a LOT of use), and it will eventually be deleted from the system, and either sold or chucked.

Your best bet of getting it (permanently) through the library therefore is to wait for it to get worn out, and hope that you will be in a position to acquire it.

Or you could request the book from a library, and find out its publisher. Look up the publisher's address or phone number on the Internet, and then contact them directly about whether they still have any copies available anywhere. Since its a Lego book, the odds are that they don't, but you never know.

No i have not ever written about or with Lego. I would like to someday write a story with them. I have a story in my head but at the moment lack the lego to create it

Well you don't have to have pictures with it. When I was younger I made three minute lego storys, they were litteraly about lego. They had people like Magisto, Johnny Thunder and had countys like the Royal Knights, and the Ice Planet to give a few examples.

You know we have heard a lot of your story, but I have never heard of a way to read it. Some people, (mainly me) are interested in seeing it. :wink:

I've never written about an official Lego character, but I have created biographies, statistics, etc. for my own characters and creations. These previous works have inspired me to write a longer story, based loosely on characters I've created. If all goes well, I'll be able to write enough for a book and get it published. After all, why not? It's not like I have any other useful career skills...

It would be easy to make a book about lego. I'm trying to write a book and I was inspired by lego.
But lego would probley juniorize anyway.... :cry:
