Halloween Pumpkin Cottage

Once upon a time, an evil Norman knight wanted to force a Saxon princess to marry him, and so murdered the prince whom the princess was about to marry. The princess, however, fled deep into the woods where the evil knight chased her. As she ran in the woods, the princess met the good witch, Jenny Frogtoes. The witch had just returned from the market with a pumpkin for a pie, but on hearing of the princess's plight, the witch turned the pumpkin into a cottage and hid the princess there. The witch soon found the evil knight and hexed him, causing him to wander the woods aimlessly as more and more ghosts in the woods found him and chased him. Later, the princess returned home to her parents, and Jenny Frogtoes moved into the cottage. Once every ten years, on All Hallows' Eve, the witch hunts down the evil knight in the woods, renews her hex, and recruits more ghosts to chase him.

With Halloween around the corner the idea for this little model came to me. It's not perfect, but I really like the idea. I also apologize for the poor photography. Enjoy.

This is a nice little MOC. It reminds me of the fairy tales one hears when they're a young kid. The only thing I might add is some potions or spell books for the witch. I like the fireplace, and the story is very cute.

Forsooth! Verily I say that is quite a clever story yon minstrel! That cottage is also quite gourdgeous.

Nice work. Its a pity they don't make orange arches to go over those windows.

As others have said, the door looks particularly nice. The blue flowers also provide a nice complement to the orange.

Wow, what a creative idea and a creative story to complete your reign of creativity. :O

Love the windows and how they work with the arches. Very nice. :)

Fun story! I like the creation too, the pumpkin turned out really nice. I don't know why, but it reminded me a little bit of the original King's Quest game by Sierra. Thanks for sharing!

I'm glad you all found the story and the model entertaining. Thanks for taking a look, and thanks for your comments.

Not a bad idea. There's the whole front half of the cottage with space to be furnished. I'll probably wait to give my nieces a chance to play with it and see what sort of suggestions they come up with.

I'm totally stoked! My little pumpkin cottage got selected as one of the finalists for Lego's LDD Halloween competition. Take a gander: http://designbyme.lego.com/en-US/compet ... oting.aspx
Though, I predict the person who entered "Kitty O'Lantern" will be the winner. It's hard to go wrong with kittens.

Nice custom and a great story. Would love to see some light-up bricks inside the house to see some glowing "eyes".

Is it just my imagination, or does it seem possible that the Lego Minecraft pumpkin cottage set might have taken a wee bit of inspiration from my pumpkin cottage MOC?

There is most definitely a similarity, but I doubt LEGO directly stole from you. But one can't be too certain!
