New BrickArms Release Includes Castle Items!
Will Chapman has just updated the BrickArms website with 14 brand new accessories, several of which Castle fans might find useful!
Claymore
Glaive
Bayonet
And while most might consider it a scifi weapon, I think the Plasma Blade also makes for a stylish polearm!

That is stylin'. The claymore looks really great but I'm a bit sad that it doesn't come in brown. The tan's pretty good so I'm going to have to remember to bring some bare-metal foil to brickcon.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Re: New BrickArms Release Includes Castle Items!
I was actually very fortunate to pick up 2 claymores(one of which can be seen on my buddy icon) and 3 bayonets at Brickfair 2010. I suggest to all the castle lovers out there. The Claymore is probably one of the best castle customs there is. A Must have for all kinds of fantasy.

You do know the claymore is a real type of sword right.
Of course you do.

Re: New BrickArms Release Includes Castle Items!
yeah claymores seem a little problematic for legos seeing as they're 2 hand weapons. and souldn't the glaive be attached to a pole? I thought that was the concept of the glaive. the bayonet looks great though.
He who thinks you should look at the box that says "Quaraga" if you want to find out his username (about as useful to you as his real name). he only wants you to look so he can laugh about you looking there because he's a total smart...

It certainly can be using a BrickArms U-Clip!quaraga wrote: souldn't the glaive be attached to a pole?
Will liked the idea of keeping it a separate item from a pole to make it as versatile as possible; it's a great knife on its own, and the open grip on the the bottom allows you to attach it to pretty much anything you like either from the bottom or from the side.

Thanks to you and Will again for your support of the Castle display at Brickcon! We sure did appreciate it! Any chance of being able to order more of the blades in chrome in the future?

Re: New BrickArms Release Includes Castle Items!
When I saw the image of what is here called a "Glaive," I recognized it as a knife called a colltell carried by spanish light infantry (Almogavars) during the period of the Muslim occupation of Spain. The colltell is described as a combination of a knife and a butcher's cleaver -- sort of a stouter version of a Bowie knife it sounds to me. The source for this is a book I have, "Fighting Techniques of the Medieval World: AD 500 ~ AD 1500: Equipment, Combat Skills, and Tactics," page 33, with a drawing on page 32.quaraga wrote:souldn't the glaive be attached to a pole?
After a brief search, I actually managed to find an image of the same page on the web here: http://www.warandgame.info/2009/05/almogavars.html.

Re: New BrickArms Release Includes Castle Items!
Glad you liked them! Will and I didn't want to be showy about it, but given how many close friends we both have in the Classic-Castle community, we wanted to do what we could to say thanks to the great community here and give everyone a few fun things to play . . . I mean build withBiggerJim wrote:Thanks to you and Will again for your support of the Castle display at Brickcon! We sure did appreciate it! And yes, more chrome BrickArms accessories are definitely coming, including the Glaive!
Interesting! That's something new to me and would be to Will as well, but while the BrickArms Glaive wasn't specifically modeled on it, there's definitely more than a passing resemblance!Frank_Lloyd_Knight wrote:When I saw the image of what is here called a "Glaive," I recognized it as a knife called a colltell carried by spanish light infantry (Almogavars) during the period of the Muslim occupation of Spain.

Re: New BrickArms Release Includes Castle Items!
I had been looking forward to the claymores ever since we saw the prototypes and having recently managed to buy some I can say that they are very nice products, as are the glaives, which remind me (among the things that other people have pointed out) of an Anglo Saxon seax.

New BrickArms Release - Brodie Helmet, More Chrome Blades!
Will continues to make 2010 the biggest year yet for BrickArms with a new release - BrickArms: Duck and Cover! Included in this release are several items Castle fans might find particularly useful in building including:
Brodie Helmet (makes a perfect kettle helm!)
Chrome Blade Pack V2
These chrome items were made using electroplating, resulting in the highest quality chrome items possible that won't chip or flake with standard use.
Enjoy!

Are the chrome items only going to be available as part of the chrome packs or will they be available indicidually?

Re: New BrickArms Release - Brodie Helmet, More Chrome Blades!
Most likely the BrickArms chrome accessories will only ever be available in the chrome packs or perhaps included with a custom minifigure. The electroplating process and real chrome Will uses to create those accessories is VERY expensive and including them as components of custom packs/figs helps Will make them available to the community at a reasonable price point.Redav wrote:Are the chrome items only going to be available as part of the chrome packs or will they be available indicidually?
