The 6 legs are really well done. How are they connected? I can't figure it out.

Never mind, I figured it out. The hands loosely keep the feet in place. Excellent idea!

Actually, the hands are held in quite securely..to make the leg you attach the wrist of a hand to the socket in the leg, where the leg attaches to the waist piece...there is a satisfying snap when you attach the hand to the leg properly...thanks...any other thoughts...

Hmm, I wouldn't have picked army ants for fantasy castle figures, but, you've convinced me, a couple hundred of these would not be a happy sight, how big are they in your stories?

Oh, and the arm in leg technique is new to me, but I can see it being an excellent hinge, props to you, or your inspiration.

Thanks for your replies...The army ant is built to minifig scale, making them about a big as a horse in real life...and thanks for the consideration of the leg technique, I originally used this piece to hold the legs...

The legs were attached to the sockets in the pulley, but this looked too symmetrical and unnatural to me..I have since changed the arrangement of the legs to their current configuration...

thanks again, any other thoughts?

I tried out the piece you suggested, the overall shape was not appealing, to me, and the hands did not stay in place as firmly...hope this helps...
