Pining for a Red Wizard Hat

Post by Chuck06 »

Technically, this piece already exists, but from what I understand, the few copies that were made in red were created to test the molds. The piece has never been released in red in an official set and, as a result, it is both difficult to find (available at bricklink, but not from any sellers within the us) and is fairly expensive.

My brother and I have created a fantasy miniatures battle game, and I would like to have a mage unit represent each of the four classical elements: air, water, earth, and fire. IMO, the recent wizard releases in the castle and kingdoms lines provide adequate represenatations of the first three, but alas, no fire.

What I dont understand is why Lego released the evil wizard with a red body but a black hat and cape. I guess red by itself doesn't carry enough connotation of evil?

So Lego, grant my selfish request and produce a set with a red mage with a RED HAT! In the mean time, I guess I'll just have to keep using the SW imperial guards.

For me, I didn't want to wait for LEGO to use them in a set so I used Bricklink. Once I saw the faction colors for the Kingdoms Lions I ordered a few. As the Dragons had their own Wizard, it wouldn't sit well for the Lions not to have theirs as well. I realize that they are a bit pricey but I had bought a bunch when I made a Red Wizard faction to act opposite the "Majisto" Blue Wizards years ago.

That being said, I do agree that LEGO should produce some red as well as some yellow, brown and white ones.

I wanted red wizards to create a Rincewind from the Discworld novels.. so I had to import them by bricklink from Europe to Australia [that wasn't cheap] I have 8 red hats.. and paid waaaay to much for them..

If they actually appeared in a regular set then i could complete my Unseen University faculty. :D

Why is there a blue wizard in the advent calendar? Surely a red wizard would suit the lions in the kingdoms line..

That's what I thought as well.

OK I understand that many of you are purists, but would a tiny bit of Krylon really hurt that much? I'm just saying... if it's a red wizards hat you really must have, why not? :halo:

Red would be great! While they're at it, they could put a bit of a curve on that brim too.

I think we then would need a transparent hat for the Ether Mage. :) Shouldn't the Earth Mage have a brown hat, btw?

Indeed. I was a bit disappointed that the Sorting Hat in the new Hogwarts set had printing on i (and yes I know the printing is appropriate for what the piece represents).

I too have selfish reasons for wanting a red wizard's hat. It would be great to make a red mage from Final Fantasy. I'm no purist, but I prefer it when I don't have to worry about chipping paint.

I'd like white.

I wonder what the upcoming gnome's hat would look like on a wizard.

Yes, certainly that's one way to represent the earth mage. However, my vision for this mage encompasses earth's verdant aspects as well. So I guess he's really a combination earth/nature mage. Plus, I like bright colors for mages. Now that you mention it though, I wouldn't mind having both separately.

Here is a potential answer: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=MA ... D=15083118
Scroll down the page. They have 4 non released red Lego test pieces, namely red Wizard hats (right above their red ghost shroud!).
Other interesting parts I have seen on Bricklink (namely parts in this store that would interest castle people): Green scimitars, small red test shields, and a red dog. (There are probably more, but these are the more interesting ones.)
I personally hunt down rare parts such as these, and then try to find fun ways of using them. Something I have seen only once that I would like to get my hands on is a pair of red Lego trees (I see a fall scene in the works.)
I hope this helps!
