Shop At Home: Ordering from the US in Canada
Shop At Home: Ordering from the US in Canada
Here's a question for fellow Canadians. Have you ever tried ordering from the American Shop at Home page and having your order shipped to Canada? If so, did this work?
I'm thinking about ordering Diagon Alley, but I'd really like to save the $50 difference (or more, depending on the exchange rate).

Pretty sure that's impossible.

Re: Shop At Home: Ordering from the US in Canada
LEGO won't do it. There are a few people who have their items shipped to freinds or relatives in the US and have them forward it home. Even doing that, it turns out a bit cheaper. There is a guy in my LUG that has it shipped to a branch of his company in the US and picks it up when he goes there. Come to think of it, my in-laws have a time share in Vegas that I could have items shipped to and they could bring it back...hmmm, thanks for bringing this up! I should start a LEGO smuggling ring.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Re: Shop At Home: Ordering from the US in Canada
Thank you most kindly for the replies. I thought that would be the answer, but it's good to check.
Luckily, I know people in the States, so all I have to do is decide how much I want the set.
Thanks again.

I would say it's worth it for the bigger sets, especially if you're third party is willing(and you don't need) to tear down the box and send you just the bags of parts.

If your willing to lose the box, use the flat rate boxes, best rate.

That would be a pretty funny sight, seeing someone with a carload of bricks trying to get through customs. Just don't wear dark sunglasses, don't take any children across the border that aren't yours, and if they ask you to build something, say "yes sir/yes ma'am" and build whatever they want.Ye Olde Republic wrote: I should start a LEGO smuggling ring.

Ha, you'd have had a good laugh at the customs agent talking to me when I was on my way down to Brickcon then.
Which is a good reminder to Canadians; if you're going down to the US for a number of days, why not have your order shipped right to the hotel/resort/gramma's house. Don't forget to warn any third party though. Most hotels offer services like this if you set it up ahead of time.

You can make it pay going both ways. If you are planning to bring back a carload of bricks, then head to the US with a carload of Kinder Surprise eggs. According to recent media reports US customs seized 26,000 Kinder eggs last year that were headed into the US. I wonder what they're going for on the street??nanuck95 wrote:That would be a pretty funny sight, seeing someone with a carload of bricks trying to get through customs.
