Hi there

Post by andhe »

Hi there, long time reader/forum browser but newly signed up and hoping to add my humble opinion here and there, where appropriate. I have no intention of over stepping the line as a newbie!

Big castle fan (thats a big fan of castle, not me being physically big, or the castle being big, but actually don't have any problem with BIG castles, I just don't have the time or resources to build them). Got back into LEGO with after buying set 7040-1: Dwarves' Mine Defender in 2008, followed by 7036-1: Dwarves' Mine the following Christmas (an awesome set).

I'd describe myself as more of a Lego enthusiast and collector than MOCer due to time/space/resources, but do enjoy looking at other peoples MOCs and gaining ideas for smaller builds.

Fav set that I now own (not including the two above) would be 10193-1: Medieval Market Village (such a good build), and anything involving Wizards, Wolfpack or chefs...

Welcome to the site. So you said that you're coming back to Castle; at what point did you leave? That is, do you remember what year roughly that you left and what LEGO was making/selling at the time? Just curious, people enter their "dark age" at different times in the past. Anyway, enjoy the site as a member.

I actually had mainly space lego as a kid... SHOCK! My fav set then being 6941 Battrax. I guess I 'progressed' to technic in my early tweens with lego no longer being 'cool'. How wrong was I! Had always liked the castle leaflets/adverts (with Forestmen attacking the forts and stuff) so was just sucked in by the dwarf/Orc :orc: battles (gotta love those stubby legs and massive beards...)

So maybe entered my 'dark age' early-mid 1990's? Thanks for the interest and the welcome!

Hey andhe,

Glad to have to you delurk. Don't be shocked - I was also all about the space theme as a kid. But we all grow more mature and wiser as we age, right? :D
Quick question, since you've been reading the forum for some time - what prompted you to finally sign up and start posting?

And some of us just never really grow up ;) I'm quite the spacer myself.

Same here. It's funny that we enjoy the opposite ends of the spectrum of time. (Past castle and future spaceships).

I wanted to give my two cents worth in the review of the dwarves mine defender, being that it was the set that brought me out of my 'dark age'. And find the community here a bit more positive and curteous than some other Lego fan sites :)
