Brickfair 2011 collaborative

Post by Siercon and Coral »

I know its exceedingly early, but I've been building madly ever since the last Brickfair ended.
So, who all is going? August 6-7 2011; Washington, DC/Virginia.
AND
Who would want, and has the experience to work on a HUGE collaborative castle MOC.
I'm thinking many 8 foot tables, or just a large floor space. (if they let us)

*Personally, I can bring just under a thousand men, and most likely two 8 foot table MOCs...

If your interested, and like thinking big, and pull weight, let me know :D I'm trying to get a feel for who can come to which conferences and who likes building big.

We just started our very young Flickr, so i'll post the larger stuff later...

Sorry it took so long for me to find this thread.

I may or may not be able to come to BF '11 just because my 3rd soccer season will be starting up around then. I have held off signing up for that reason.

However, if I am able, I would love to help out! Unfortunately I have a somewhat modest collection but that is something of an entire point of bringing a collaborative. Last year I brought some extra village tudor style houses just in case they were needed. I can bring perhaps a 96x 64 base, castle scene as well as accessories such as, animals, minifigs, houses, foliage, etc. I am still unsure as to my being there though.

If anything is ever held in Chicago, then I would go. The East coast is too far...

Actually, I think there is a convention in Chicago, but I can't quite remember the name. Too many "Brick-_____" convention names!

Ah, ok then, good to know. Yeah there are definitely too many Brick somethings and no unified list of them anywhere to be found on Google...

On that note, is anyone going to Brickworld? I'm still doubting I'd go, but If someone else from here would and I could convince some friends to go, I'm sure I'd throw some creations together or at least go as a spectator. 8)

Brickworld planning already has its own thread here. It might be best if any future discussion about it takes place there so that we don't derail Siercon and Coral's planning thread any further.

I'm on the fence right now about attending BrickFair (I didn't go last year but have made it for the first 2 years of the show). If I do wind up going I'll be bringing a large castle layout.

I'd be open to contributing to a large overall castle layout / castle. What did you have in mind?

Yeah, we're kinda trying to figure out if we want massive castle deadlines to be "brickfair" or the classic castle contest... Definitely dont want to use up all of our pieces, and spend tons of time and work transporting a truck load of stuff to Brickfair if its going to simply be a one person show, that disqualifies us for later competitions (thats how it works right? MODs? Or could i bring something to brickfair, and enter it into the contest a month later?)... Motivation's running low We may just end up bringing stuff we've already posted, or scatter monsters around hospitable MOCs. Let me know what you end up deciding and I'll just keep trying to create some collaborative, if intrest picks up. :)

It depends on the contest, but in general, a MOC can not be shown before it is entered into a contest. Some contests like the micro one, this may not be the case. But the CCC, it is definitely not allowed to be shown before the contest.
