This was my first MOC. I had just come out of the dark ages and had just bought some kilograms of old lego online.

Hey all,

Blue pointed this out in another thread, and I realized I never added my own first work. I think these were my first two post-dark-age MOCs:
Image
I was quite pleased with the red one, particularly, and kept that together for quite a while.
That was using brick from childhood that I retrieved from my parents' basement. At the same time I was trying to gather pieces via eBay to make a Robin Hood hideout, which finally came together as this:
Image
After I put together a couple of illustrated stories using those MOCs for the first iteration of my website, my roommate suggested I take on Tolkien, and the first MOC for that was my very embarrassing Prancing Pony:

lol, Bruce. Love the way you made hobbit legs and the blockout in the doorway looks like it's specially designed for the cook's hat to be able to fit. Thanks for sharing! :)

My first MOC that I posted, I actually started about a month ago, here is the link to pictures http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=478214
and the link to the thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20773

Obviously I haven't been building castle mocs very long. It has gotten a lot better I just don't have pictures of the update yet(improved landscaping). I should be finishing it today. (IF my pieces get here). :)

My first online MOC was a castle that kind of looked like a giant toaster (not the best castle in the world). The structure was hinged to open like a dollhouse so the exterior ended up being a bit less than refined.

Lionized Castle:

The castle was named after a Tragically Hip (Canadian band) song. Like the castle, the name probably left a bit to be desired.

I would not be one bit ashamed of this MOC! It may lack a certain refinement, but the way it opens makes it incredibly "playable" and I think that adds a lot to it. As first MOCs go, this one is great! :)

My first castle MOC that I posted online was Rothgar Castle.
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=361537

It was at that point my most current itteration of a castle I had been evolving for like 5 years, and continued to evolve for two more years. In retrospect, It was kindof unfinished at the time, and I shoehorned into the CCC, but I still rather like it (probably because I'd already been lurking around here long enough to pick up a few things :tasty: ). Interestingly, this same castle (albeit evolved enough to be completely unrecognizable) made a second CCC appearance last year, looking considerably more finished http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=456735

This is a great thread. Disappointed I've missed it up until now.

This was the first castle creation I did, for a CCC about 4 years ago I think...

Image

And this was the very first thing I built and posted coming out of my dark age (a bit of steampunk natch)...

Image

Looking back at these, the airship is pretty lame and the photography is dreadful. I'm happier with the castle, but that was built a good year or so after the airship so I was getting to know my way around the bricks a bit better by then - the photo is still awful, posted before I discovered the joy of the "Levels" function in PaintShop Pro!

I haven't looked far back in my photostream for a while, this was a nice little prompt to do so. Cheers.
Increasingly irritated by the way real-world work impinges on building time...

Its been awesome looking at everyone's first castle MOC. I think the first MOC I made was this http://www.flickr.com/photos/54727725@N04/5672663664/ for a Lego magazine contest (and I won! ). The first castle I made was this http://www.flickr.com/photos/54727725@N04/5258898199/ for the CCC.

I saw that in the Lego magazine! Nice work for a nine year old. I have entered and won a Lego contest too  , but it was Lego education. The contest was to build what you thought the bottom of the ocean looked like, we got a $200 gift certificate off of it :D . I think we got about 2000 pieces with that. :eyebrows:

Yeah and that was just 1st prize, not grand, which was $500. I guess education is expensive :roflol:
Maybe we should start a club for Lego contest prize winners 8) 8) 8) ..........

Our scene was quite large, about 4 feet by 2 feet, we used blue material as a backdrop. I made all sorts of sharks, a killer whale. Some large fish, lots of animals. I also had a sunken ship and exploration sub. Unfortunately I don't think we ever put the pictures on the computer, at least I can't find them. I have the real photos though.

On topic it is really cool to see everyone's first MOC and then look at how they improved.
