Any Lego Conventions in NYC

Post by legokilt »

Folks,
Do any of you know of any Lego conventions in or around the NYC area? I would love to go to BrickCon or Brick World, but they are both a wee bit too far for me.

Hey,

The closest thing is BrickFair, held each summer in DC. BrickMagic was a new con held this year (May?) in North Carolina (not close, but at least on this coast) and coming again next year. There are some LUGs relatively near by - I think the NYC LUG is inactive but NELUG (New England LUG) is close enough (Boston-ish) that you could go to an event. The other direction there's DelVaLUG (Delaware Valley LUG, in Philly) that is also reasonably close. You might look to things like the opening of the LEGO store in Manhattan last year as the opportunity to meet up with other AFOLs.

Hey, KidsFest will be in Hartford December 2-4:

That may well be your best bet.

Remember that Sean Kenney has a show of LEGO animal sculptures running at the Bronx zoo currently. Hurry, though, as that seems to close September 30:

(Though when there was a similar display at the Philly zoo it ran longer than the original dates, though the sculptures were showing wear and tear by the end.)

Nathan Sawaya has upcoming museum shows in Massachusetts and New Jersey:

Anyway, just some thoughts on LEGO events in your area.

Bruce,
As per usual you are a font of knowledge. I will definitely look into the KidFest. Thanks again.

Be prepared that for some of the Kidsfests upcoming , that there is not been any space available for AFOL's to display. It will just be the event for kids.
