I think it's implied that it's a connected to an artist, he dumps one on a beach to raise the profile of his exhibition - though the name Ego Leonard (Ego.L...L.Ego...) either implies a Lego obsessive, or an attempt at viral marketing by TLG. Odd, but cool.
