Monthly Challenge #12: Year of the Dragon

Post by Bruce N H »

Happy Year of the Dragon! With the end of contest season, let's usher in the New Year with another building challenge. In honor of 2012, Year of the Dragon, your theme is dragons. Feel free to build anything - a dragon, feature the Dragon Masters in a MOC, or show us a company of dragoons. Be creative. Since this is the year of the Water Dragon, bonus points for making water a key component of your MOC.

As always, the Building Challenges are not contests. There are no rules, no judges, no winners and losers. The only requirement is that you have fun.

Well, I've been building a dragon for the CCC, but since I couldn't get it in on time this will do :D

I find it amazing that this challenge comes right before we are about to start a Dragons contest. :) So i'll probably send you a message in a couple days. Glad the planets sometimes align and we'll try to entice people with prizes to participate in the challenge and the contest. Two birds one moc.

Has anyone pointed out to you that Chinese New Year is January 23rd? Until then it is still the year of the Rabbit.

This year is going to be a good one :D

In dead world diorama, a vicious monster called the Venoxious Toxicrill scours the land consuming any life it finds.

This dragon is of a venomous species of dragon (as you can see by it's colors).
It spits out a nastly burning fluid that is like fire, but can turn humans into a puddles of jam.

I thought making something that resembled a dragonfly for this would be fun, so this is what I came up with. I had to rework the base several times. I wanted it to look like a lush green swampy area where the dragon would blend in, but it blended in TOO much and it didn't turn out too well when photographed. I tuned it down a bit and I think this was a good compromise. Enjoy!
