We know that it might not exactly be what you, specifically, envisioned, but we tried to leave it as open to development as possible so that it can grow and develop as we start to put it into motion.
Thanks to everyone for your support, contributions, and enthusiasm, and hopefully the "Lands of Classic Castle" will become everything you've imagined and more!

Stay tuned as we get ready to launch the lore submissions thread as well as the "Guilds of LCC" feature, which I think you'll really enjoy. :)

Thanks,

Thanks guys, you're the best! Well, I mean, aside from the admins and mods... :halo: You guys deserve top marks!

This is gonna be fun!

I think that there is still TONS of room to come up with your own story for the lore submission thread.
Examples:
How did the land start?
How did the king come to power, and what is his relationship with the 4 factions?
What is the relationship among the factions themselves? Do they want to overthrow the King? Is there only one who does? Do they hate each other or are they peaceful?
Why is magic generally frowned upon in the land? Was there a conflict in the past?

And this is just what I was able to come up with in about 30 seconds :)

Also, a big advantage of having a King who belongs to no province is that it puts all of the factions on equal footing as the game begins. Who will rise in power to possibly take the throne? We'll have to start playing to find out! ;)

Looks interesting guys. I can see some similarities to GoH but also some differences. The better defined points system is nice and clear and I like that the public decide on which MOCs win the contests - that means the results should be a bit fairer.

I love skaforhire's ideas about the chapter houses etc. I wish I thought of that first! It's genius.

One question regarding the "Sigils": Does that mean that if I wanted to use another "sigil" (e.g. Dragon Knights, or one of the KK or Harry Potter shields) I would need to join the Outlaws faction to participate?

This was one of the things I didn't like about GoH - all the factions become standardised which I find very unrealistic. Within each faction it is likely that there would be many heraldic elements. I realise for most of them you have two but it would be good if others could be included (e.g. all dragons are the green faction, all lions are the red faction, etc). I hope that question makes sense.

I think that what was intended was for the "reserved" sigils to be used for those factions specified ONLY. Any sigil not specifically mentioned can really be used for any of the factions, I think. Although you'd probably want to use one that fits the color palette of your faction. (ie, Green KK2 or HP "Slytherin" would make most sense for Lenfald.)

That's what I hoped you would say. That allows for a bit of flexibility. I will have a look through my shield collection and try and think of something!

I look forward to when the "entrance" thread is opened up and we can all see what everyone wants to build.

Thanks again :)

If you earn your faction points for every MOC you make, the we could conceivably wind up with a faction that has lots of participants with poor builds doing better than one with fewer members and contest-winning entries. The only solution I can think of to make this fair is to make the number of people in each group fairly equal. While this may be a bit unrealistic, it's the all I can think of.

We have a couple of ideas to keep this from happening.

1) No "Global Points" will be awarded for builds that are not part of a Global Challenge. That way, every nation has an equal number of chances per month to earn points for their faction, and people can be solid contributors to their faction without having to crank out a new build every week.

2) Limit the number of "Personal Points" that an individual can earn for themselves per month from misc. builds.

3) We probably will "cap" the number of people in each region to keep the distribution fair. We'll probably start out at 10 per region, and then as we get bigger, we can increase it to 15, 20, 30, etc.

The scoring system may be a tad confusing when you first read it, but hopefully it will become clearer as we move along.
Basically there are two independent scoring systems. One for the factions, and one for individual players.

Example:

Global Challenge #1 - Build "ABC MOC"
Participants:
Loreos - Builder A, Builder B, Builder C = 15 Global points for Loreos, 5 personal points for each Builder A, B, and C.
Lenfald - Builder D, Builder E = 10 Global points for Lenfald, 5 personal points for each Builder D and E.
Garheim - Builder F, Builder G, Builder H (Builder H wins the challenge) = 15+20 (win bonus) Global Points for Garheim, 5 personal points for Builders F and G, and 5+10 (win bonus) personal points for Builder H
Outlaws - Builder I = 5 Global points for Outlaws, 5 personal points for Builder I

For faction challenges, guild challenges, and misc MOCs, only Personal points will be earned.

I hope that helps :)

So if the Garheim faction is supposed to build with "nordic influence", but only have stone building materials, I am kind of confused how that will work, because nordic or viking architecture is actually pretty wood based. Just search "viking architecture" on google images to see what I mean. I think Garheim will have to be allowed to use wood, because it is such an essential material. Maybe their territory could be extended farther south to allow for more lumber to be harvested by them?
You would rather be building right now.

I think every one needs to remember that these are only general guide lines, if you want to build structures out of wood, by all means do so. we only want to make a general feel that makes sense for the factions land scape. Garheim is mainly a mountainous region, so it only makes sense that they would mainly depend on stone as a building material. Also remember that the map does not show every detail, there could there could be large expanses of pine forest in between the mountains or by the shore. We want to give the members as much freedom as possible, while still making sense for the landscape.

Okay, thanks LoO for the explanation. Just wanted to clear that up.

Also note that Garheim having an "old nordic" feel applies to a lot more than just their construction style.

The reason we have set up the factions with different terrains and resources is to give them each their own individual look and feel. If everything was the same all over, that would (at least in my opinion) defeat a lot of the point of this whole project.

Is there allowed cross posting from LCC and GoH ? In other words, could I repurpose builds to the appropriate guild here and keep 95% of the MOC the same? - or would that be frowned upon? and all LCC builds should be net new?
