That sounds reasonable to me, but if there was a spot like that closer to the center of our territory, that'd be great.AK_Brickster wrote:Location was chosen due to it's strategic location at the fork of the two major rivers of Lenfald, allowing timber to be floated in for processing into lumber, and then either shipped by land over to Loreos or floated downriver and shipped by sea. It is also easily defensible, having water flanking it on 2 of 3 sides.

If you guys reach a consensus that you want it more inland, possibly by the lake, that would be fine also. I'd guess the location I have picked out now could be a major city other than the capital, but I think it would be wise to utilize the location one way or another

I motion we move the capital closer to the lake. Indeed, a larger city may replace the location. What do you guys think?
Also, Aside from Elderon and Medieval Guy, not many Lenfel have reported in here. Where are you guys?!

I'm right here, boss. Mesa was a little lazy recently, that's all. I also have an idea for the king fig and will send you pictures as soon as I get them on the computer (and flickr/brickshelf).

Re: LCC-Lenfald Official Faction Thread.
Well a capital is usually located in the centre of a nation, so I second the motion. It would be handy (though) to have a large city on both borders just to make sure those snow-eaters and sand-chompers won't get anything in their heads. Moving the Capital to the centre also gives the King more time to act once an invading army shows up at either border. If an invading army from Loreos shows up they might take us by surprise but not when they need to cross our dense woods. Although I indeed like your reasoning AK_Brickster I think the Capital near the lake would be better.

I dont want to be part of this discussion since I'm a proud member of the Garheim, but just to give you some input: a capital in the centre of a nation is more an exception to the rule than usual. Consider the European capitals:Elderon wrote:Well a capital is usually located in the centre of a nation
London, Amsterdam, Kopenhagen, Berlin, Vienna, Bratislava, Sarajevo, Bucharest, Sofia, Skopje, Athens, Istanbul, Oslo, Helsinki, Tallinn, Vilnius, and Moskow are in no way in the centre of their countries.
Madrid is (but it was build there with the explicit intention to be in the centre), and so are Rome, Brussels, Ljubljana, Belgrade, Minsk and Riga.
In between are capitals like Dublin, Paris, Bern, Stockholm, Warschaw (although this city used to be in the centre of Poland - when Krakow was the capital though), Bern, Budapest, Zagreb, and Kiew.
So, a capital near the border is not that uncommon

I too think our capital is a little bit close to the border. I put a note on where I think the new capital should go.

I'm also around, reading my eyes out I also think the captital needs to be near the lake. It is more central and logs can be transported by river to the border with a city at the border for control, call it customs .Teherean wrote:I motion we move the capital closer to the lake. Re: LCC-Lenfald Official Faction Thread.
I agree that it would be a good idea to have the capital on the edge of the large lake, though the original location where the two rivers meet (or split?) would be good for another large city.
Regarding Elderon's suggestions, I like all the names, but would suggest that the "wandering woods" area be made smaller... maybe half that size? As it's drawn it takes up a pretty big chunk of the center of the country.
It might also be a good idea to have (at least) one of the large cities on the coast somewhere, so it could be our large port.
Just my two cents.

I've tinkered with the picture again and this time posted it on Flickr. Ofcourse you guys can add comments and more preferably city names.
Here it is:
As you can see I added a few smaller cities, not sure if that's allowed already, but I thought It would give us a better idea for what nation we live in. Now where the Megablocks is everybody!?
