LCC-Lenfald, Highlandervillage Óir Starrfhiacail

Postby Elderon » Mon Mar 26, 2012 2:20 pm

Well since we are (finally :tasty: ) allowed to build free builds and I had this one sitting around collecting dust untill we could finally post free builds here it is, My Highlander village:

The Highland village of Óir Starrfhiacail (Gold Fang in Gaelic) is located in the Airgid Corónaigh mountains in the North of Lenfald, home of the Faolstarff clan. The mountains hold a tough and hard to mine ore which can be mended and smelted to make Fangsteel. Tougher than common steel and it’s known to last hundreds of years without corroding or showing signs of rust. Although to get hold of such a weapon you must make the journey to one of the clans yourself, they will not sell them on markets, for you must prove yourself worthy to wield such a magnificent sword. Blacksmiths take great care of forging the sword and make sure that the cool mountain air strengthens the blade, as can be seen here (snake smoke credit to Strombringer):

The clan-leader is called Athair and holds the highest house next to the alchemist. He is mostly a veteran on the battlefield and knows how to wield his Fangsteel sword. Pictured here is Athair Whodyn Faolstarff :

My hero, Velaryon of Strongborough, has travelled to the north of Lenfald to purchase his own Fangsteel longsword.

Deiros: “So now you’ve got your fangsteel longsword, can we finally go south?”
Velaryon: “Yes you impatient loreesi…”
Faylúna: “Uhm you guys, who are they?”
Deiros: “judging by the banner, I think they’re your friends Velaryon.”
Velaryon: “That’s my uncle Vysarion. And with him the master at arms Owain Breakspear and most of the Strongborian Guard.”

Image

Vysarion: “Velaryon, your father commands you to return home. He says that, as heir of Strongborough, you should not go on these foolish and childish adventures. If you don’t return with us you will be disowned. We have a horse ready for you, so come on, let’s go home.”

Velaryon: “Dear Uncle, I have made it clear to my father that I choose not to reign, when he should pass away. I think my brother Vyncent would be a more righteous and just heir of Strongborough, as I have told my father many times. I just feel that my life isn’t meant to be locked behind the gates of Strongborough. There is so much more in this world that interests me and attracts me. No, I’m afraid you’ll have to disappoint my father, uncle.”

Image

Vysarion: “This is your final answer, Velaryon? Are you sure?”
Velaryon: “Yes, I couldn’t be more sure if it.”
Vysarion: “Than I hope we will meet again, in better times. I bid you farewell Velaryon, son of lord Vyctarion of Strongborough, and blood of my blood, I promise you, you shall not be forgotten.”
Velaryon: “Thank you uncle and we will meet again, I swear upon my life. And uncle? Tell mother that I will be coming back. You haven’t seen the last of me, I assure you that!”

And so ends the story of Velaryon heir of Strongborough, and begins the tale of Velaryon, free man and adventurer.

So this was my village, more pictures can be found on my Flickr account, by clicking on one of the pictures. Hope you like and I hope it will rake in another two points :eyebrows:

greetings,

Elderon

Very nice village. Everything fits very nicely together. I especially like the highest two buildings and the balcony on the front of them.
You would rather be building right now.

Thanks! And I know they look great, although credit must go to strombringer! I believe it was this MOC that inspired me: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/301927

Thanks! I've written another story but I have to break up this village and my local challenge introduction first and then sort everything out again (uuugh...I hate that...) But when thats done I'll build my story as a new free build, or maybe even as a challenge build, who knows (depends on the challenge ofcourse :tasty:

Oh well he had it coming! No I'm just kidding. He has had a hard time first scaring that doose and now being al up in te frozen north. Poor thing :( (yes I was being sarcastic... :sly: ) And atleast two different faction share a friendship in my MOCs!

Thanks, Eklund! I loved your creations too btw!

Ha! You wish! You loreesi can't stand the cold and high altitude in the Airgid Corónaigh !

That's amazing Elderon. It makes me proud to know that Lenfald has good builders such as yourself amongst the ranks.

But when the time comes, I hope Velaryon knows where his loyalties should be... ;)

Thanks, that means a lot to me :D

That would make for a good dilemma wouldn't it? Taking up arms against his friend or against his own people. Interesting... Lets see where my story brings him!

Well since Garheim already has two builders with free build points, I think it's safe to say that you can indeed earn 2 points :)

I had been thinking that Highlanders would make a good addition to our ranks. Nice work.

Ah yes, it comes as no surprise that Garheim would rely on its climate rather than it's warriors for defence

Excellent work on your village, that thing is big :o I really like how you did all the house, with interiors even though they are small. Keep up the good work!

If you want it be Gaelic then the arrangement would Corónaigh Airgid (From a native speaker of Irish  )

Also I love how you chose Athair as the Clan Leader name! My only critiscim is that you should use Gaelic names to go along with the titles :P

I know Garheim would but Lenfald would never! See those highlanders? They're practically born with an sword in their hands, no way that you would just 'conquer' them! (I know you're kidding :tasty: )

Cool thanks for the feedback! I used a simple irish dictionary and translated 'silver' and 'crown' and that is what came up. I couldn't find any gaelic grammar rules anywhere so I just pasted them together :tasty: . Also I used Whodyn to kinda make a gaelic version of Odin and Woden, since he is missing one eye and stuff. The last name for the clan is Faolstarff which I got from mixing in 'Faolchú' and 'Starrfhiacail', which if I'm not mistaking means wolf fang (but I probably mixed the grammar up in that one as well ).
