I'm sure one of the rare color ghost sells pretty high, but the mace that goes with this fig: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=sp ... D=16217616, is 150.00 a pop. the minifig I'm sure is one of, if not the, most expensive on BL.

As far as I know, those 2 there are the only two in existence. I agree, quite amazing.

Now for my two cents worth on the actual topic: I love LEGO's molded trees. I have very few of them (some VERY old that I inherited from my father's friend in a massive LEGO stash, mostly early 80's and pre 80's, no Castle sets sadly), but I would love to have more. the look of LEGO's molded trees in mass numbers is amazing, something I truly wish I could witness in person with my own collection. All of my trees are the standard cone pine, but I have too dreamed of owning a Cypress tree. So LEGO, BRING IT BACK! :D

A better approach might be to try and convince Steve to add this product to his customs store Alt Bricks. I don't see a huge market for these amongst the general population but maybe there would be enough amongst the LEGO community to make it worth producing as a custom item?

Yes please bring back the Cypress tree! :D I've always wanted one. And a newer model with better plastic would be wonderful. That's probably the last remake I would ever want.

Love to see TLG bring back the cypress tree. I have no complaints about pref-fab trees, though they make up a small portion of my overall Lego world landscape. I do have one castle the prefab cypress trees would suit perfectly, but Ebay and Bricklink prices for cypress trees are out of my league. So I remain cypress-less.

What's the legality of someone recreating lego elements, even if they state it's not lego? Isn't this what some clone brands do?

For example, could brickforge or someone make and sell a replica of that mace? ($100 for a minifig accessory is insane, however rare it might be).
Less talking, more MOCing.

Perhaps an improvement on the tree? The old cypress tree is a single purpose and large element. What if it were more of a group of elements that you could arrange at varied heights, sort of like the technic axle and washer combination that is used for LEGO City Car Wash rollers? You could have a bottom piece contoured like the bottom of the cypress, followed by a center section with no contours so that they could be stacked for height variances, and finally a top section. All could be based around a technic axle that would peg into a stable "trunk" base that could clutch to any standard LEGO stud. The sections should have enough clutch power to be able to hold fast to the central axle. The advantage is that if molded in different sections you could alter the height of your "forests" and it could also be used to make a stable "jet-flame" for non-City creations.

Anybody like that?

^ yes, a new, compatible element(s) would be a better way to go.

Yes, they did a run of this element about 10 years ago. It wasn't intended to be a limited item, but the mold didn't have much life left. I believe their exact words were either "the mold was shot out" or "the mold ran out of shots." The mold was then destroyed, and the trees sold out rather quickly. Seems like quite the goldmine for people who knew to stock up. I don't believe the mold getting used up was common knowledge until after the trees had sold out.

I recall that I kept putting off ordering Cypress Trees and one day it was gone. Sad. I had wanted one since the mid 80s, for they had already fallen out of use even when I was a child. Unfortunately, I don''t expect to see this element again. They hinted that there were problems with it, so they were unlikely to create a new mold.

Of course, pitchfork was given a redesign, so anything is possible.
