Temporal Disorder ( Wrath of the T-ReX)

Postby Left4bricks » Sun Apr 08, 2012 2:11 am

Hi all,

This is my latest moc. After buying the Lego set with the Tyrannosaurus, i decided it was the time to miX my prefered History period with my old prefered prehistoric period. So here it is, some chosen men of the scottish Mackenzie clan are celebrating their ancestors buried under the sacred dolmen. That ceremony shall not be disturbed, but it seems the men are not totally ready to punish the intruder...

In the same time, I tried a new thing : ruined castle. I was inspired by a picture my father took on his holidays in Drôme (France), the ruined castle of BourdeauX.

The landscape is amazing! Very well done on the wall remnant also. Really gets the feeling of times gone by. Great work! :)

The crumbling ruins are amazing! The bits of black and tan are really add to the effect.

I really think that you pulled this off well. Everything is just beautiful! The mottling and the jagged edges of the wall really look terrific, and the scenery (flowers, trees, creeping ivy on the wall) is perfect.

The only thing that I noticed that was funny was the wooden stair to the upper door of the castle. While historically accurate to be made of wood, If the castle has been deserted for so long as to fall into ruin, wouldn't the wooden stairs have rotted away by now?

Anyway, terrific MOC. The presence of the T-rex is pretty funny, and he's posed very well. Now you just need to put one of those goats on a rope tied to a post out in the middle somewhere, "Jurassic Park" style ;)

Thanks for comments guys!

I think it's the first time i'm satisfied of my creation, with no big and horrible errors.

@ AK_Brickster : you are right, the wooden stairs would normally be rotten, but there are some strange things happening sometimes in MacKenzie lands... To be honnest, i missed this point :D .
It's the first moc of a serie melting medieval and mesozoïc eras that i i'm planifying. Thank you to make me think about the goat, i will try to remake this scene of Jurassic Park with a medieval feeling.

Awesome work really. Those ruins look very true and are falling apart nicely (altough the wooden stairs :D as already pointed) and that terrain  I am going to study your technique, it is very good and beutiful. Keep up the good work.
Btw good idea with the T-rex

This is a unique idea and you pulled it off really well. The ruins are very convincing, all of the clusters of flowers really look good too!
You would rather be building right now.
