Concerning Runes

I would really like to add a little more details to my future MOCs, so I was thinking about making some custom runes stickers for wooden planks on buildings and doorways. So I wanted to throw this question out there to all fellow Lenfels: do we use a specific script/font, would it be wise to standardize inscriptions?

Some points of discussion: there is an english mode for Tengwar runes that is relatively easy to learn, and Tengwar is really a beautiful script, but using something directly from LOTR would not be such a wise idea... on the other side, with the LOTR sets coming up there's a chance we get official inscriptions on some Lego pieces.

LOTR Cirth Image and LOTR Tengwar Image

I've seen some CIRTH inscriptions on the Moria LOTR set...

Image English Runic Font also looks quite nice

Here's a list of runes on dafont to browse through...

EDIT: it seems this post started a new page... please note Teherean's post about the alliance with Loreos on the previous page

Well seeing that we are more of an English style nation, I'd say runes are the logical decision. Especially since they will be added with the new LOTR-sets, not to mention the older viking-sets, which will be handy for the purists (like my self ;) ). But then again, do we really need this? I'd say everybody can decide for them selves to be honest, but I would not use any fonts myself as of now.

Oh yeah, I have been having quite a busy few weeks, and I am building right now, but it's for the Jolly Roger contest on Forbidden Cove. After that I will be building for the local contest, and after that I'll try my luck at building a festive creation for the global challenge :)

You can use whatever letters you'd like, as long as you stay within the theme. All three of the above are just fine. I'd like to include old latin lettering into your thoughts as well, As depicted on the famous tapestry of Bayeaux. I couldn't find a nice white background, but here's an example: Image

Thanks for the mention of the announcement as well, Mitah. :) I suggest everyone read it, it's sort of a big deal...

I'm glad to see that, more poinst for what already was the most awesome faction in the LCC!

Edit with a small new announcement:

Hear ye, hear ye!

"In his great wisdom, Our High Lord Godfrey Wenseclaus II has decided, for the good of his people and their strenght, that Lenfald now be (unoffically) offically allied to Loreos! A lucrative trade agreement has been signed with the first minister of the Prince Of Lenfald, the Noble Lord Mark of Falworth! Let this agreement bolster goodwil amongst the people of the southern provinces, and may this lead to more unity and, perhaps once, a unified Roawia!

High Lord Godfrey bids all the great nobles of the land to act wisely and show an example, and therefore, any eventual hostilites against Loreos must end at once. To break the agreements of the alliance shall lead to swift and hard justice."

This is how this works: Outside of the offical LCC organisational board, Mark and I thought it would be cool to create an "alliance" to bolster creativity even more. When this local challenge is over, a new Local Challenge will be held that Medieval Guy and I will try to bend around the theme of this alliance, so get some red figs out! :D

Ah, so we're allied with the sandy southerners now. I'm sure that'll lead to some interesting diplomatics in the future.
Let's get right to business and overrun Garheim, agreed?

Wow, I'm gone for a couple of days and so much happens! It's good that we have a tentative alliance with another faction.

I know some of the Lenfald Nobles, honored men with respected opinions, used to hate Loreos. In fact, Lord Teherean despises Loresi. But I hope that your loyalty to your High Lord, and the realisation that there are more ways to unity than war, will ensure a peaceful relation to last. :)

And in the end, we get horses to bolster our cavalry, whilst they get logs and meat. We'll see who becomes stronger in the end!

This alliance is centered around a mutually beneficial trade agreement, there's no speak of hostilities to anyone outside the outlaws. There will be NO campaigning against Garheim as of yet. The High Lord is meeting with his highest and most respected advisors to discuss the diplomatic impact of this newly formed alliance...

Well I've finally come round to create and post the final Lenfald Map.

I've tried to do as much as I could with everyones suggestions, but I don't want to make it too crowdy in there. This is merely a reference point and an add on to the official lore concerning Lenfald. As I said in the topic itself, anyone can create a new city as long as you post it there, so there won't be too much cities on the same place. Also everyone can use every city in the map for MOCs. I will not add new cities to the map itself, because as I explained in the thread itself older maps don't have every city on it, but only the most important ones. In my opinion these cities are the most important, but if you want more cities in the forests you add them to the thread, same goes for cities in the mountains or on the shores.
If Teherean would so kind to add a link to the topic and the map itself in the original post, people will have a clear picture of what was and is going on in Lenfald.

And second as I already included a Loreesi as a friend to my character, I'm glad to hear we have Loreos as an ally! And it's perfect for my GC idea! Awesome!

Well that's all from me, for now (although I am thinking of tackling the timeline for Roawia, or at least, Lenfald, soon)

greetings,

Elderon.
