MOC: Successive Troubles

Postby OverLoad » Sun May 13, 2012 6:07 pm

Hey guys! After my last MOC, I wanted to build a keep. A small one. I knew I wanted some sort of confrontation, but a siege didn't seem right for such a small keep. So, instead, I made the opposers an angry mob of peasants with intent of killing the new king, burning down the keep, and bringing the rightful heir to power. I wanted to add more peasants, since the scene seemed kind of bare, but I decided against it.

Without further ado, here is the MOC itself! More images can be found at my Brickshelf(when moderated): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=503502

Following Peter I's unfortunate death, his brother Conrad took to the throne as king regent for Peter II. Peter II was merely 12 at the time, and was sent off to a safer place, as the usurpation of the throne was not popular among the peasants of the nation...

C&C welcome, enjoy! :)

Nice one! I love that fort and it's thatched roof building. The peasants seem pretty bare though. Why would they attack a fortified keep with about 5 guys?

Very good fig posing, the castle could use a little work though, maybe add some more arrow slits or something to break it up more.
Nice scene :)

I agree. Cool MOC, but the peasants didn't seem to think this one out very well. What you really need is an angry mob of 20-30 peasants, armed with pitchforks, torches, clubs, etc.

I like the mottling of the castle, and the 1x1 stud in the windows is something I haven't seen before.

What I particularly like about this MOC is the low, long battlements. I've been meaning to try that in my WIP but I can't seem to make it look good in black... :? You nailed it though! :D

I do agree with MG and AK about the peasants though... maybe you should have thickened their ranks somewhat, and gave 'em a ladder or two...
