Sneznik castle - minifig scale

Post by subix »

Sneznik castle translated to English means Snowy castle.
By my opinion one of top castles in Slovenia to visit.

It took me a year from decision to built it and to get to this model (I made two smaller models as well, can be found here on CC).
I studied blueprints, photos, visit it and even got 3D laser scaned pictures of it.

This is it in minifig scale. Base plate measure 98*148 studs. At the end I found myself enjoying to build landscape more than castle itself. I used new (for me) technique for water. 1x1 round trans plates on blue plates. And added a fiction part: rainbow wizards on a terrace burring black wizard with spells. All other is as in nature today.

Wow, the efforts you put into this really payed off. Making both round and square towers in the same style like you did shows your skill. You should see if you could get it on display at the castle. Good job, again.
You would rather be building right now.

Castle is owned by state and governed my National museum. I am in touch with this people but my country economy is in bad shape and government has no money for history or art. I even had to pay entrance fee when they let me in with purpose to make photos to build this model. At the same day they ask me to give model (when finished) to display for free and they can't asure me to get it back intact!!!

But I will built more castles...

The close-ups are great, love foliage and the little sluice complex you made.
The bright green vines are a smart way of making them, hadn't seen that before.
Keep it up.

Fantastic! The shapes and colors are excellent. I can tell that you put a lot of work into this. You created an amazing replica.

Such a pretty castle. Sneznik is very close to Sniezka- both words have something to do with snow. :)

Nicely done! Love seeing minifigure scale trees and buildings. Stuff gets really big really quickly, and you did a great job.
