interesting beach party set with collectible figs
Hey,
I just saw this interesting beach party set on Flickr:
What's interesting about it is that it basically combines a few of, frankly, the least interesting Collectible figs and a few bricks to make a set. Wouldn't it be cool if they did similar things with some of the more popular Collectibles? Of course the dream set would be an ancient warriors battle pack, with the Spartan, the Centurion and the Gladiator, or a medieval warriors pack, or a fantasy figures pack. Heck, I'd even love a pack combining the gorilla suit guy, the lizard suit guy and the bunny suit guy (maybe include a jack-o-lantern and a doorway and have it be a trick-or-treat set).

Re: interesting beach party set with collectible figs
This is what I wish they'd done all along.
Maybe they'll see the skyrocketing price on some of these 'collectible' figures and start doing sets exactly like what you said.

Re: interesting beach party set with collectible figs
The choice of figures is interesting, the lifeguard would have made a more logical choice than the island girl, who seems a bit out of place next to the more 'city' surfers.
This and the fact that CMF parts keep appearing in build-a-fig bins says to me that somewhere they've got a huge pile of CMFs that they over-produced. It's interesting that they've decided to use these figures 'as is' with no attempt to mix things up a bit, or just to use these parts in normal city sets instead.
It makes you wonder if the VIP set was just an excuse to use up leftover figs (seems to be in store also) that didn't fit a 'themed' pack. Maybe we can expect to see a couple more of these CMF 'battle packs' if this one sells well.

I've always liked the hula girl figure.

That would be a great idea! It would sure beat standing in the aisle at Fred Meyer with a squirrely 3-yr old, trying to figure out which figure is which by feeling them...
Re: interesting beach party set with collectible figs
Hmm, looks like they are slowly re-releasing some of the CMFs. They also just realeased the VIP exclusive minifigure set, which inlcudes the elf, gorrilla suit man, evil space guy, fisherman, and mummy. I wonder if there will be anymore releases like this.
Re: interesting beach party set with collectible figs
I could see a rock band set, if we get a few more punk musicians.

I saw some VIP exclusive stuff similar to this on Lego.com. It was apparently the faorite minifigures from the first 3 series.

You may have to be logged in to view it. Anyway, it has the elf, fisherman, space villain, gorilla suit guy, and mummy.

Re: interesting beach party set with collectible figs
The VIP's voted on this set a while ago. If you will notice, they are not exact matches to the original figs. They did not have the proper pieces to replicate them exact. Which will be a problem if more sets like you all wish were to happen of previous collecti figs.I saw some VIP exclusive stuff similar to this on Lego.com. Re: interesting beach party set with collectible figs
I definitely concur with the elf and gorilla suit guy -- but how about the robot, the zombie, the forestman, the Spartan, or the samurai? Surely at least somebody thought they were cooler than the fisherman?

Re: interesting beach party set with collectible figs
I repeat, these were voted on by the VIP's. They are not necessarily the ones that received the highest votes, but the ones that could be replicated as best as they could be. This thread is a thread about the original three surfing figs...can we please stay on topic?I definitely concur with the elf and gorilla suit guy -- but how about the robot, the zombie, the forestman, the Spartan, or the samurai? Surely at least somebody thought they were cooler than the fisherman?

Re: interesting beach party set with collectible figs
Hey all,
Two new sets have surfaced, again combining Collectible figs (or variants) and some bricks to make a scene:
Rock band combines punk girl, rock girl and rapper (all with color variations) and a brick built drum set, guitar and speakers:
The graveyard is even more exciting, combining a witch, zombie and ghost and some gravestones.
Pretty cool stuff - I'm still hoping for a pack based on the centurion, the gladiator and the spartan.
