LCC General Information and FAQ
Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
I was just wondering...
When exactly was magic banned from Roawia? Was it like during our father's lives...or our father's father's lives? or further?
Was it banned when the three brothers seperated because it says "and to destroy anything that smelled like magic" is this when magic became banned?
It might be a good idea to set this time period.

Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
I don't know if the exact period that magic was banned is too important, but you can assume it was long ago, outside of the memory of anyone alive today. The reason for this assumption is that the vast majority of magical creatures and spell casters have been removed from society at-large, and are now congregated in the southern swamps. Also, they've had time to establish a "capitol" on the magic isle. All of these are things that take time to occur.
Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
According to the history found in the third posting on the first page of this thread, it was eleven generations ago.And now, eleven generations later, Roawia is still divided in three, though it has one king. The line of ancestry is broken for good, for the current king is the great-great-grandson of a steward. The story of the brothers lives on in the lands that are named after them.

Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
Okay, well if we are going to have a list after all, then I have one suggestion. Make the list be called "The Known Races of Roawia", because that leaves it open for people to include something else if one race was forgotten. I would suggest to not include the word "approved" in the title of the list.

Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
Ok. So, how would this "The Known Races of Rowia" list be introduced? Should it be introduced formally or in a build. Like somebody's character discover's the book of "The Known Races of Rowia" in like an ancient library, or lost documents.

Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
I would rather have it presented in a MOC, and also be "unofficial", that is, if the book/tome/scroll/etc that is being read from in your MOC says that "creature A" has "characteristics 1, 2, and 3" but someone wants to make a different MOC with "creature A" having characteristics "4, 5 and 6", that should be OK.
This whole discussion started, I thought, as making a list for new members to see what races they could choose from for their character to be. If you make "official" rules about "Vampires can't turn into bats and can walk in the daylight" then you are limiting someone who might want their vampire to be able to turn into a bat and can't stand sunlight. Basically you would be limiting creativity in a way that's not needed for the LCC to function.
So, yes, feel free to build a MOC showing your character researching the "known races", but let's keep it unofficial. If people want to use it as a springboard for their own stories, great. If they want to create their own path, that's fine too.

Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
I agree with AK.
Actually it would probably be possible in a MOC to find only part of the Tome of the Known Races of Roawia. Because then others can find the lost pages of the tome as well, and add on to the many different races in Roawia. Also with specific races such as dwarves or elves we could just add extra sub races to them such as Mountain Dwarvess, Sylvan Elves, Desert Dwarves... that all have some characteristics of dwarfs like being short, bearded? creatures but still leave it open for other players to add to.

Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
I've got an idea for the races of Roawia. How about rock monsters? We could use those little guys from the power miners sets in LCC. The monster could live in caves in Garheim and the southern mountains. They of course eat crystals that are known to be magical. This is only my interpretation of this race, so it is unofficial. What to you members think of this?
You've got to ask yourself one question,"Do I feel lucky?" Well do ya, punk?

Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
To me, that's not so much a race as it is a creature. It would be like saying that dragons or wolves are a race.
I think it's a cool idea for something to go into a moc, but I don't think that it makes much sense to have it as one of the playable races.

Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
Ok, so it's pretty much decided that somebody, if they wanted, could introduce the races through a build. So, now the question is who should build it?

Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
ok, so I took the present list toned down the descriptions a bit and added a few creatures.
known races of Rowia
humans-the most numerous of all the races on Rowia
Orcs- Have been around since the dawn of time, much like humans.
Goblins (Sand, Mountain, stone etc. )-Live in harsh enviornments.
Elves (Dark, white etc. )- Live mainly in the forests of Lenfald. some still live among humans in parts of Lenfald.
Dwarves- live all over Rowia, but are mainly concentrated in Garheim and often live under ground. They might be distant cousins to the gnomes.
Gnomes- Much like dwarves, one of the most intelligent races.
Vampires- Can live for hundreds of years, and can turn others to there vampirism, live in mostly remote locations. Are very intelligent.
Werewolves- much like the vampires They live in remote areas, most times in clans, but some have woven their way into our society. They turn into their true form at full moon.
Animal-Humans (Mermaids, centaurs, satyrs things of that sort)-rarely seen, most have Lived in exile even in early times, not much is known of these creatures, but they are fierce warriors.
Demons- Only can be summoned. They are not natural entities of this world. Only powerful mages can control these demons, and they are truly awesome and feared warriors.
Giants- (Like Hargrid minfigs a little taller is ok too, but nothing over, oh I'd say, the 10 ft range in relation to minifig size ) Used to inhabit remote mountains and other places, (islands, tundra etc. ) but now some choose to live among humans.
Sirens- Not much is known of these beasts.
Trolls-Live mostly in snowy environments, are as tall as giants but not very civilized or smart. They're like giants' dumb cousins. Not to be messed with.
Fairies-a mystical race made up of beings of all sizes and types. not much is known about them.
Additions? Objections?
(I'm especially interested in your opinion Zachary since you have basically all of the work on this list)

I'd like to do it if there are no objectionsZacharyIslazy wrote:Ok, so it's pretty much decided that somebody, if they wanted, could introduce the races through a build. So, now the question is who should build it?
there is a very fine line between animal and race, so for something to count as a race here are a few guild lines that I think need to be met(this isn't official or anything, just an Idea)AK_Brickster wrote:To me, that's not so much a race as it is a creature. 1-should have some intelligence
2-should be somewhat humanoid
thoughts?

Re: LCC General Information and FAQ
I wouldn't consider demons, golems, or elementals to be "races". When you think of a race, you think of a person/thing that has the ability to think, reason, have emotion. I don't think those 3 (cave trolls are right behind them in terms of "intelligence") really qualify as a race any more than an animal does.
Edit: yes, Orks, exactly.
