I only care about castle, so this set seems pretty worthless to me....the conquistador armor may at least have potential. Need a better look at it, though. Hope to see a followup to the evil knight next time around...

I'm disappointed by the Shakespearian actor. Not that its a bad figure, by any means, I want multiples. I was just hoping for a Greek thespian.

I don't think this is a weak line, by any means. Series 3, is still my least favorite.

The skier, alien and robot are pretty lame. The footballer is too, since he doesn't have a football?

Cowgirl isn't what I'd hoped for either. Looks more like a rodeo-queen than a wild west figure.

I just noticed that Santa appears to be sporting a new bag. Might have some good castle applications for merchants.

For all that people are complaining about this set, it hits several items on our collective Wishlist. We had lots of requests for a new Santa Claus, lots for a Conquistador, and lots for various Renaissance figures, which the Shakespeare dude could be repurposed as. I've also checked off Banker, Bard (Shakespeare again--he's the Bard, so how could I resist?), Cowgirl, Diver (with 19th Century style suit), Fairy, Football Player, Mountain Climber (the Bavarian guy counts, I think--you could always Bricklink an ice hook and other gear for him), and Pirate Captain, and the Businessman may be suitable for a Victorian Gentleman as well, what with the bowler hat.

I make a point of collecting all the historical, ethnically specific, and fantasy/sci-fi characters they come out with, so this set looks mighty fine to me.

Amazingly, someone on Flickr has already acquired some of these, and has posted some up-close pictures.

As usual, I'm really excited for about half of these, with about half of the rest being interesting for parts. I'm most looking forward to the Diver, Man-bat, and Conquistador, with the Actor, Pirate Captain, and Evil Robot rounding out the rest of the "must-haves". Of the rest - I like the black bowler on the Trader, and if I'm not mistaken the Cheerleader's hair is the first time that piece has been in that color. The Bavarian, oddly, while made up almost entirely of interesting pieces doesn't quite interest me as a whole figure (I'll probably try to pick one up anyway). Most of the rest I could take or leave, though I find it highly unusual that the Alien Queen maps so closely to the Alien Conquest line.

Same plus Santa and maybe the Pirate?

I don't get the complaints either. It's clearly not a great series but there's still a few good ones. On the flip side, there's going to be other forums out there complaining about the ones we like but love some of the ones we wouldn't care for. Each to their own.

I enjoy seeing all of them, and they will all become welcome additions for me. I like the variety and new outfits, even if some parts/accessories are reused. I think I like the new Conquistador, Banker/Businessman, Ski Girl, Renaissance Actor and Bavarian Boy the most. Looks like more fun choices.

Thanks for the link!

Having now looked at these more closely, I amquite excited about this series. I still dislike the fairy's hair, but I like the face and torso prints. I'm also looking forward to getting the hat on the businessman and the dark green forest cap on the bavarian.

The printing on the diver and robot is awesome. Especially the robot's face! The bat-man is neat, and my wife really likes the monster figures.

I'll be buying a box, and I imagine I'll be collecting extra fairys and robots beyond that. Maybe a few others too.

I can see how this might not be as exciting from a castle / army building perspective, but I'm pretty excited about it.

The diver print might be serviceable as a castle torso, don't you think? Didn't notice that the Bavarian's cap was dark green. That makes him much more exciting. :)

I think I'm going to snag a few fairies, simply for repurposing. If you swap out the legs for a sloped dress piece, I'd say you have a Greek/roman peasant right there. If not for the flower, you could get away with it as a male toga.

Some other things I noticed:
-The cowgirl's hat and hair appear to be one piece
-Are those new arm pieces on the man-bat??
Liking most of the new figs for the most part and will probably pick up a full set when the price is right.

Newish. The Man-bat fig (in a different color scheme) is part of the new Monster Fighters theme.

Not the most exciting range of figures but there's a few interesting figures. At least we get the white single plume released again. These can make great quills for the Shakespeare figure.
We get the barmaids hair in black [about time] and finally we get a proper Santa figure.

I don't mind this series. Not the best, but not really the worst that could've happened. I'm aiming for the pirate, the diver and the conquistador, at least. Maybe the alien queen. I'm still waiting for a good knight counter part to last series' evil knight. >_<
