Following their victory at Hastings, the Normans needed a way to hold on to their new lands. At first, motte and bailey castles were proposed as a short-term solution. But soon, these temporary wooden structures needed replacement. They were replaced by the Norman Keep:

The complete Norman Keep model stands at over 17 inches high. The front guardhouse/entrance with a working portcullis pulls off, allowing access to its interior. Each level also pulls off, including four successive floors linked by a brick-built spiral staircase. The second floor is furnished, including beds in the guard room. The basement is unfinished (as all good basements are), I just never got around to finishing it.
I had a lot of fun building this, it was more of a "What do I want to build, now let me go buy what I need". I more forced my collection to grow into this model.*This is a reposting of my For Sale topic. All public discussion can take place here. First off, I apologize for the lifelessness, but given that I am selling most of my collection I ask for a bit of mercy in that department.*
