Castle of Thanatos

Post by Avedis »

Hello,
I'm new to this forum and would like to present you my "baby", the castle of Thanatos. I started the construction in November 2007. Since then much has changed, now I want to show you some pictures. Firstly here is my master piece, the throne room. As you can see I'm a great fan of chromed bricks. :)
As an appetizer:

And now, this is (I hope that I translated the titles correctly into English):
His Sole and Most Highest Majesty Hyakinthos II. DeTanith, Hereditary Prince of Thanatos, Great-Emperor of the Avedish Reich
[original German: Seine Alleinige Allerhöchste Majestät Hyakinthos II. DeTanith, Erbfürst von Thanatos, Großkaiser des Avedischen Reiches]

I don't want to flood the thread with all pics, more you can see on my blog http://lego-system.de/

Very cool castle and I can see why you've been working on it 5 years, it's big! I like the color scheme, and the windows are really neat.
Welcom to the forum :D

That throne room is awesome. Do I see chrome gold bricks there? If so, are they custom?

Thanks for your kind words. :)

There are three types of chrome-gold bricks in the throne room.

Firstly there are the normal lego pieces (like the tiles 2x1 on the floor)
Secondly I have custom chromed bricks (the throne), they are more pale than the original. I bought them from Aurimax at bricklink.
And Thirdly I have real gilded and silver-plated bricks (the darker pieces like the crowns and the flags). I got them from ChromeBricks at bricklink. They are very expensive so I have only few of them but for the throne room the most expensive is barely good enough. :D

Cool castle! I'm just curious if you knew this when you named the castle, but Thanatos is the Greek embodiment of Death.

For custom bricks the chrome quality looks good. Thanks for providing the bricklink sources. I will have to check them out.
