Forestmen Brown Replacement

Post by Redav »

I've always wondered what the Forestmen sets would look like if they'd used brown instead of black. So I had a crack. Most of the pieces are available in Brown however I did use some Reddish Brown when it wasn't available. I also took the liberty of changing the Grey to Dark Grey with some of the details on the Camouflaged Outpost. There's still a couple of pieces which weren't available in any of the browns but that's okay, I'm satisfied. I did try to get pieces for the Forestmen's Crossing but because the panels only came in a brown as the log finish, I wasn't interested. I probably could have built those walls completely from bricks but for the now, I'm content. It also gave me a bit of practice at working out how to get BrickLink to work for me the best.

I think when I originally had built these, I thought that they didn't look quite right but I have to say that it grew on me. They would certainly fit into a scene with brown trees a lot better than as they were.

It seems almost a little... I dunno.... sacreligious?

But I agree that they would look much better in a large forest MOC in brown than the old black.

Ah, yes, sacrilegious sums this up nicely, Sure we can all agree that they look "better" in brown, but there are some thinks that you just don't mess with, and Classic Castle is one of them. Still, you did these well! :)

I like the brown better for the look of a forrest. It would be nice to see how many older sets would look with updated colors and part availability. Nice work!
