CC Set Review: 6062 Battering Ram

Post by architect »

Join the Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 6062 Battering Ram.

Battering Ram was released in 1987. Two soldiers and one archer guard the Black Falcon tower and wall which can connect to 6074 Black Falcon’s Fortress. Two lion soldiers and one lion archer use the ram to attack the door in the wall.

Ah, Finally a good set! :) This set shows some of the greatest qualities Lego castle has to offer. The black falcon line is my favorite and this set is no exception. This is because it has a great selection of standard pieces that can be used over and over again in any castle MOC. Also, it contains plenty of minifigs for the money, and the sides are well matched, providing for some fun play experiences. Overall this set has a great design, but what really makes it perfect is how you can rebuild it into any sort of module that you want for this wall system.

Value for Money: 4.5/5
Parts: 4.5/5
Alternate models: 4/5
Play Experience: 4/5
Over All Design: 3.5/5

Overall Rating: 4.1/5!

This set was one that I always wanted in my youth and was one of the first that I acquired in adulthood. As featured good playability due to a good number of balanced minifigs, the modular nature of the wall and a good number of pieces.

I built my brother's and:
Minifigs- 10/10
Weapons/Accessorys- 10/10
Pieces- 8/10
Ease of building- 6/10
Ease of using instructions- 3/10
Overall- 7.4/10

Overall a nice little set, I think my brother payed $30-$35 for his off of eBay, the instructions were pretty bad for building(my friend couldn't take it so he built Royal Drawbridge  ) but I manged and once done it looked pretty nice.

Ah Yes! This is a great set that I was privaleged to inherit from my Grandma. :) It is a great Classic and a must have for any Lego Castle builder in my opinion.
Minifigs- 5/5
Weapons/Accesories-5/5
Value for Money-5/5
Play Experience-5/5
Alternate Models-4/5
Parts-3/5
Well, this is a great set and one of the best Classic's. I love the playablility as well as the Re-build value of the peices. While Lego has defianatly improved in thier sets this had some great features for it's time.

One of my favorites growing up. 6 figures. Modular wall section that connected to other Castle sets from the era. Great siege tower/battering ram.

This set concept has been done many times since, but I've never thought any have been as good as this. The LEGO designers really had something great going in the mid-late 80s.

Sometimes I wish they would just redo these old sets but with today's techniques and advanced fig printing. We would get plenty of great sets and figs then!

One of the great classics, although I bought it second-hand many years after it originally came for the minifigs and parts, on ebay way back when most ebay LEGO sellers were individuals selling strange mixed lots. You could find some really amazing good deals, so the value for the money was terrific. Much prefer this old school walled set to the KKII battle at the wall (although I bought that too!). Incorporated it immediately into a larger build, so never played with it as its own individual set.

Together with the Black Falcon's Fortress I consider this one of the best Classic Castle sets Lego ever made. It is complete, looks great, has good parts, is fun to built and you can make all known Castle's bigger with it. The only problem is to find it these days for a reasonable price.

Great fun to play with. A simple wall with a tower, a great siege tower with ram and for each faction 3 well armed knights gives great playability. Added to other sets the wall gives also great fun, I added it to the Knight's Castle and it became great. This set gives great possibilities, just try it.

The set offers all very usefull Castle parts give which gives the opportunity to make this set in more ways than one. Hinges are allways welcome as are the small green baseplates and the black door. The set gives 6 great minifigures, 3 Black Falcons and 3 Crusaders all very well armed with extra weapons present behind the wall.

Compared to the price when it was for sale in the shops the price has risen enormous. Probably because it is hard to find, according to Bricklink the average used price is some €75,00 - €80,00 which is even more than you pay for the Black Falcon's Fortress. I consider it a lot (too much??) of money for 236 parts set. I got it after a lot of patience for a steal, I paid €25,00 in great condition with box !!

Value for Money: 3/5
Parts: 5/5
Design: 5/5
Alternate models: 5/5
Play Experience: 5/5
I can built a Castle, now I want to MOC a Castle.

I got this for my birthday last year. This was the set I missed when I was collecting the large sets from 1988. But I got it online for like $55. The sides are pretty evenly matched and the wall is useful for connectivity. This set was the beginning of me collecting all the classic castle sets with many purchases following this one.
