Royal Brick Customs products - new capes May 2013

Postby royalbrickcustoms » Fri Nov 02, 2012 3:06 pm

Hey guys it's Jake Burklin, Here is an image of one of my custom sword prototypes called "King's Sword". I am going to create a prototype using Sculpey and then make a mold of it using 'Amazing Mold Putty' and cast it in liquid plastic using the mold.

I am also opening a LEGO custom castle-themed weapons, armor and accessories store called "Royal Brick Customs" either late November or early December (i just have to finish creating the website and cast some of the prototypes in casting (plastic) resin.

Tell me what y'all think of it.

C&C greatly appreciated. :)

Pretty nice, The blade is really cool! The black crosses might be a little too big. :?

Still, keep at it!

Yeah I think the hilt is a little too blocky compared to the length/size of the blade.

New Product Designs from Royal Brick Customs

Postby royalbrickcustoms » Fri Mar 29, 2013 8:50 am

Hey guys,

I just wanted to show everyone the latest designs (templates) from Royal Brick Customs.
All of these designs (except for the High Elf Shield) are currently in the Prototyping Stage.

The following are the stages that each Royal Brick Customs product goes through:

Stage 1: The Design Phase
This is the first stage where initial sketches, are made of the product ideas and where templates are made for prototyping. There are currently 5 total Royal Brick Customs Products in this Stage, these include:

- Flail

- Rope Bonds

- Greek Amphora

- Elven Broadsword (Ocrist)

and others...!

Stage 2: The Prototyping Phase

This stage takes the initial design and create prototypes of the parts based on the design(s).

There are currently 4 products in this Stage. They include:

- Norman Axe (Shown Below)

- Dwarf Battle Axe (Shown Below)

- Dark Bow (Shown Below)

- Jousting Pauldron(s) (Not Shown)

Stage 3: The Production Phase

This third, and final stage involves molding the prototypes and casting them for production. There are currently two products in this stage. They are:

- Folded Cloth (Silk)

- High Elf Shield (prototyped, but not yet molded)

Below are links to four (4) designs I am currently working on. Three (3) of the designs are in Stage 2: The Prototyping Phase and one (1) has just begun Stage 3: The Production Stage.

Wow, very impressive! I can't wait to see these made. Will they be matching the standard LEGO colors or are you designing custom colors yourself? What type of plastic are you using as well? Keep up the great work RBC. :)

Thanks Justin. Yes most of my products will match official Lego colors, but I will have some of my own colors as well, such as elven gold and royal purple.

As far as types of plastic goes, I have some super strong casting resin I bought from Alumilite a few months ago. Most of the parts will be cast from that, but I might also use this technique Str0ngbad discovered to mold some of my parts. I'll let you know when the parts are ready for purchase, and I'll send you some for Review.

Thanks for your interest in my work. I'll keep you updated on how things are going. :)

Great stuff, man! What are the dimensions of that shield, if you don't mind me asking? I'm doubtful that the melted stuff will work well to make parts with but I am dying to know for sure. I'll be watching this carefully.

Hey Str0ngbad,

I don't know for sure about the demessions, but shoot me an email at royalbrickcustoms@aol.com and I'll send you a PDF sheet that has the templates in the correct sizes, or you can wait a few days because they should be up for sale in my Bricklink Store some time next week.

BTW: I sent you a PM.

The dwarf axe interests me the most, but all the designs look like fresh alternatives to what is already available in the market. Good work.

Thank you. :)

I am currently in the proccess of trying to get prototypes of the axes and dark bow made through Shapeways 3D Printing (http://www.shapeways.com), but the high elf shields should be available to order soon (probably within a week).
