LCC - Garhiem - Winter Celebration Contest

Post by AK_Brickster »

Here is my entry for the LCC Winter Celebration Contest. It shows a military parade in the Garheim capital of Mikithdar.

Image

Every year, the leader of Garheim, Jhirian Eindrik, holds a parade featuring troops from strongholds throughout the land. This year, A Lenfel nobel and his family are in attendance and are quite impressed with the show of military might.
A small contingent of South Garhiem wood elves have pledged their allegiance and are participating in the parade this year for the first time.
The people of Mikithdar love to come out and cheer on their brave troops. What a fun and festive distraction from the harsh winters of this, the northernmost region of Roawia.

Rayth and his friend Lief were already in Mikithdar on other business, so decided to come down and enjoy the festivities before getting back to more serious matters.

Comments and critiques welcome. I realize that the focus of this MOC is the figures, but I'm happy with the way the road and the royal viewing platform turned out as well.

Great to see another build from you! The pavilion is excellent and the numerous figs are impressive :)

Yeah, great job, AK! That is quite the army. I am glad to see Leif could make it too!
You would rather be building right now.

This is quite good, but to be honest it wouldn't be nearly as impressive without the figs. Since those are mainly a show of money, that turns me off from the build a bit. You have fantastic skill, and I kinda wish you'd have done something to show off your talent as opposed to your cash. Don't take it personally, though! :)

Thanks for the comments, guys. :)

FriskyW, I appreciate your high opinion of my building ability. The reason I went this route is that I've been working on building this army up for a couple of years now, and I wanted something to showcase them. I honestly don't have a lot of building time, which is why you don't see things from me very often, and is also the reason behind the relative simplicity of this MOC (though the road really did turn out great, which you can see a little bit of in my secondary picture on Flickr, and I also am happy with the pavillion).

This MOC was meant to "show off" my figs, but not in a "look what I have that you don't" way, but more in a "this is what I've put a lot of work into and am proud of" way. :)

If I recall correctly, you're a bit younger than I am. Once you've had 27 years to accumulate minifigs and have a little more money at your disposal (I work 50-60 hrs a week to help fund my habit), I'm sure you'll have an even better collection than I do :D

Thanks again for the feedback!

AK, nice moc, love what you did in place of the viking horns and use of headgear/faces. I got rid of all my viking helmets because I don't like the way they look. Will try to get a moc of my Norse Horde this month.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked them.

I also really didn't like the viking hems with the original horns. I do think that they work pretty well both with my idea using the claw pieces and also with the horns that come with cows/minotaurs which curve straight up.

Looking forward to seeing your troops! Maybe you should join Garheim ;)
