Mitgardian Trading Post

Postby soccerkid6 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 7:00 pm

Made for a minichallenge in GoH. The recent Flash MOCs gave me the inspiration for the stone technique, and of course I had to do a full interior.

This trading post located in the mountains of Mitgardia allows hunters and trappers to trade their furs for supplies, and provides a safe place to stay if neccesary. Joktan, who runs the trading post then sells those furs throughout Historica.

I really like this, especially the fact that you used the same style of stonework on the exterior and interior.
You would rather be building right now.

@Eklund: Thanks, the interior stonework is probably my favorite part in this don't see a well detailed exterior and interior much in Castle builds :)

@LettucBrick: Thanks :)

@friskywhiskers: Thanks, those are just some fabric my mom had extra of, they're actually normal capes :)

@Justin M: Thanks :D

I think the MOC is great, but I have to question the practicality of having a trading post with what equates to a drawbridge as the only entry point. Basically, anyone who wants to get into it has to be on the far side of the river. If you had set it back from the bank a bit further so that people could get in by walking around the front of the building, that would have been a little better, I think.

The interior is really nice though and I think your techniques are all very good. It's just that one layout problem that I'd suggest changing next time :)

Nice MOC SK! I really like the rocks carrying through to the interior it looks really good. I do think the interior could have benefited from a bit more color; a patchwork quilt may have worked really well on the bed upstairs.

@Mark of Falworth: Thanks :D

@AK_Brickster: Thanks, definitely a good point, must be there's a door in the missing back wall :oops:

@mrcp6d: Thank you, good idea for the quilt :)

Hey great work on the winter scene mate! I really like the snow piled up and drifting off the roof. Nice details all 'round! :)

(I was sure I commented on this somewhere before....)
