This is what I also think, no distractions when building. It´s like my own time, when the kids are a sleep. Aah that beutiful silenceRichardAM wrote:I don't listen to music while building. I used to watch dvds but I try and avoid that now too if I can. I leave my phone in another room too. No distractions basically.

Re: Building Music
I either listen to classical music or metal/rock ... big difference and they have different effects aswell.
When I start planning I usually listen to classic, seeing it doesn't distract me and it gets me in a altered state of mind. I also seem to create the best tablescraps/tryouts with this music.
Then when I've got the plans ready and start building, the metal and rock kicks in, speeding me up and just pushing me to build faster (I'm easily distracted when building, so I need to build quick )
Some bands I listen to :
Rammstein
Metallica
Foo Fighters
Sonata Artica
Graveyard
Nightwish
Linkin Park
Disturbed
System of a Down

Re: Building Music
I usually do listen to music while building. I wouldn't say it helps me focus anymore or anything, I just enjoy it.
Yeah, TDCC for the win, I love them too! I also listen to bands like Phoenix, Madeon, Muse, The Killers, Passion Pit, The Strokes, Coldplay, other post-punk bands, some indie rock, and a bit of contemporary christian too.Forestboy wrote: Recently, I've been listening to a band called Two Door Cinema Club which is a British band that has a lot of great and interesting melodies.

Re: Building Music
I listen to a variety of music, ranging from Mumford & Sons and Needtobreathe to Skrillex and Approaching Nirvana. I have pandora on and it helps me stay in the building mood, otherwise I find other stuff to do or just simply procrastinate.
I like some dubstep, folk, classical, pop, basically anything, but I'm not really a fan of screamo or really hard rock. If you like dubstep I'd recommend checking youtube out, I've listened to some really good 1-3 hour chillstep, pretty cool stuff.

Re: Building Music
I like to listen to my vast array of soundtrack music, (I'm a film-maker, what can I say?) or Lindsey Stirling music. Which lead to my niece asking me last time we were building if any of my music had words in it...
