Hey guys,
I was wondering if there were any Lego conventions or group displays in South Carolina?
I am located near Columbia and Augusta (where the Masters golf tournament is held).
I really want to take part in some sort of lego convention or group display, but the closest one I know of is in Atlanta, Ga 3-4 hours away from where I live. Does anyone know if there is anything closer or a LUG in my area?
I searched the Flickr LUG group, but did not find anything.
Please comment if you know of anything.
Information greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
~RBC

I do know of a LEGO convention called "Brickmagic" I'm pretty sure it's in South Carolina.
But it says on their site that they won't be having a convention in 2013.

BrickMagic is typically held in Raleigh, North Carolina. NCLUG is based out of the Raleigh area though we've got some members in the Charlotte area too. We've got a show coming up in March in Chapel Hill, NC... but that's still about 3 1/2 hours from you I'd guess.
Note: BrickMagic is taking 2013 off and looking to hold its next show in 2014, location & details still yet to be determined.

Hey,
I was going to note as well that BrickMagic is at least within driving distance. Too bad it's not happening this year. I'd give the same advice that I gave Mark - attend some LEGO convention, particularly one within a few states of you, and while there ask around if there is anyone from SC. Another place I might check is Brick by Brick in Charleston. It looks like this couple started a business around their love of LEGO. Just call them up - they might know of a LEGO club, or they might be interested in starting one with you (heck, since they have a business space devoted to LEGO, they may even be interested serving as a meeting location). You could also go on BrickLink and look for sellers in your state (there are 15 of them), and then contact them through their stores and see if they either know of existing LEGO clubs or would be interested in joining one you were creating.

Re: Lego Conventions or Group Displays in South Carolina?
Thanks for the info Bruce. By the way I'm a TFOL (I'm 17 years old) and I don't know if my parents would want me going to Charleston once a month for an hour of lego building.
I'll look into some of these options though, just incase.
