MELO R4: Mount Doom

Post by mpoh98 »

Category: Mount Doom
The climax of the quest! A volcano, nine-fingers, and the end of "the Precious". Make every brick count!

Link:The Middle Earth Lego Olympics, and my worthy opponent Jacob Nion, and his amazing entry!

I decided to get as close to the movie as my pieces would allow, with my imagination taking over every now and then. :D I had basically 1 day to build this entry, since I was waiting for some pieces. Thanks for viewing, and best of luck Jacob!

I decided to do an irregular baseplate, and I think it turned out well! I might do more of them in the future. :D This is one of my favorite creations so far, even though it was a rushed entry, since the MocAthalon has arrived.

Of course, I had to include a playability, as you will see....

The cliff falls off with just a slight push! I love making my builds playable, and hope to do more in the future!

Nice build, and I like the playability feature. The rocks look good and the lava has a lot of nice color and texture variation in it!

Given the mood of the scene, maybe would have been better suited to photograph on a black background, but that's a minor nitpick :)

Very well done rocks. It would have been nice to see a longer rock bridge, but I guess that where piece limitations come in. The play feature look pretty accurate to the movie. Nice job!

Great job Matt! The rock work is crazy cool. Maybe if the section jutting out was a little more rugged it'd fit the gritty atmosphere better. The lava is really well done also. Keep up the good work! :D
