Dear Lego... Dark Brown and Dark Tan, Gold.

Post by Fraslund »

Dear Lego...

If you would include Dark Brown Cheese Slopes, Dark Brown 1x1 Tile, Dark Tan 1x1 tile, Pearl Gold 1x1 tile, and Pearl Gold 1x2 tile- the amount of flexability that would give us with those great colors would be greatly increased.

Here is wishing!

Haha more colors are you guys serious? LEGO should start discontinuing colors! Specificity has been killing LEGO for years man I remember when there was one blue color and it would represent any blue object like the same blue would be used for water or a car or a spaceship or a house. The same with minifigure weapons like if you had a grey knight helmet it could represent stone or metal or anything but now we have these shiny metallic parts it's terrible. Please LEGO do not make anymore colors.

I support this motion! :)

Did you mean smooth dark tan 1x1 tiles? Because I have some dark tan 1x1 tiles.

You don't have to use them if you don't want to. ;)

To an extent I agree with you. The worst thing is to get excited about some new color, and then it's impossible to get it in more than a few pieces. I think what LEGO really needs to do is make a commitment that when they do introduce a new color, they make an effort to make that color available with some core set of elements. I'd suggest something like this set:

Bricks: 1x1, 1x2, 1x4, 2x2, 2x4, 1x1 round, 2x2 round
Plates: 1x1, 1x2, 1x4, 2x2, 2x4, 2x6, 4x4, 4x6, 1x1 round, 2x2 round
Tiles: 1x1, 1x2, 1x4, 2x2
Slopes: 45 degrees 2x1, 2x2, 2x4, 2x2 double, cheese slope, 33 degrees 3x1, 3x2, 3x4, 2x2 double

Of course there are a million other elements, but that's a good core of basic parts. If I got some new color and could accumulate it in all of those pieces, it would be sufficient to build almost anything.

I think one of the drivers for new colors is licenses. If they were coming up with their own original designs they could stick to their existing palette, but when they are trying to build a model of some existing car or spaceship or whatever from an existing IP, they often have to create new elements and colors to accurately reflect the movie (cartoon, comic book, TV show, etc).

I agree with Bruce completely. New colors (or any color for that matter) are only worthwhile, if they come in enough regular parts to be able to do something with them.

I think there need to be less browns! This is coming from a very one-sided perspective, but I can't tell the difference between all of them unless I hold them up to my eyes and squint as hard as I can! Otherwise, I end up building something with more than a few shades of brown and it just looks yucky in general.

However, there's always room for more dark tan! :D

I agree on a few things also. I'd like more variety for dark brown, dark tan and even olive. I like these colors and it makes village/forest scenes have a more realistic environment and earthy feel to them. And as much as I like the current pieces and colors that are kinda similar to the ones suggested I think the more the better! :D

We have enough building colors for my needs. I vote lego expands their selection of minifigure part colors. In specific: olive green hood and silver/grey elvish sword, please. :tasty:
