Manaor Castle
My latest castle, built on only 32x32 studs. Inspiration from: Karrde, 2 Much Caffeine, de Gothia, LL, and vdubguy67. There is a full interior in every building and all the doors/trapdoors work. Also the castle hinges open adding playability.

All C&C greatly appreciated

Re: Manaor Castle
Really sleek castle wall textures paired with functionality and play features! Nice! Very well done here.

Re: Manaor Castle
Yeah, I feel like most builders (including myself) tend to only do the outside of something or keep the functionality to a minimum. It makes a MOC so much more engaging and impressive when people do the opposite.soccerkid6 wrote:Thanks FB, I really enjoy adding play features to my buildsForestboy wrote:Really sleek castle wall textures paired with functionality and play features! Re: Manaor Castle
@Forestboy: There are some techniques that look amazing, but make interiors pretty much impossible to do. I tend to go for slightly simpler designs that allow for interiors

Re: Manaor Castle
This is a really beautiful MOC--enough to draw me out of my Huorn-like (always watching, never speaking) slumber. I think that this is, more or less, exactly what most of us would love to see as the flagship of a Castle line: it's about the right size--and, really, what you've packed into a 32x32 footprint is amazing--and its functional opening is not only great play value, but it's much more attractively executed than any official set since the 1980s.
Admittedly, if this were an official set I expect it would have more panels and fewer bricks, so this cake still has the AFOL-icing we know and love around here--but it's a really well-done cake regardless and a recipe that I wish the "restaurant" would start offering.

Re: Manaor Castle
@Formendacil: Thanks! If built with panels/less elaborate walls, I think this could be within the price range/piece count of an official set. Another person said pretty much the same thing on Eurobricks

Re: Manaor Castle
Beautiful MOC and I'm really digging the fold-out option and playability features - a lot of the new HOBBIT sets have similar features and I've been planning to work some into my next few MOCs. Great job! This really is a lot for a 32x32 plate base.

Re: Manaor Castle
Thanks, I was somewhat surprised how easy it was to build a nice castle on 32x32, there used to be 32x32 castle challenges here and I used those builds for inspirationRonin Dragonslayer wrote:Beautiful MOC and I'm really digging the fold-out option and playability features - a lot of the new HOBBIT sets have similar features and I've been planning to work some into my next few MOCs. Re: Manaor Castle
All of the realistic details are awesome! I like that you included so many different kinds of rooms. I really like the whole overall look of this.
