Tan Castle MOC,

Post by J1A3L5 »

Hi all, I'm posting this on behalf of a good friend of mine. So to be clear: This isn't my MOC.

I was very impressed by it, especially considering she hasn't been building very long and it was her first castle MOC.

I think she'd be very interested by feedback (especially as a first castle), so if you have any suggestions or comments, please post.

I think it has too many flags...maybe if they were spread out around the castle...and I don't think the palm trees would be lined up like that otherwise it's a great moc...

Very neat, props to your friend. Looks to be a bit too small for a minifig though. Still it looks very crusader like!

Great I like it. A bit small for figs, but it is certainly a good use for tan pieces.
I build, therefore I am.

That is excellent, especially for a first-timer. I too must agree that certain parts a big small for minifig scale, namely the main gate, and the crenelations. But it appears to be well in scale with itself, so it's all good. I gotta love the tile floor inside, and the tiles on the windows. :) To the contrary of other's opinions, I think both the palms and the flags look fine as they are. Perhaps a flag in each corner would be nice, though. Overall, a most admirable build for a first timer. Alot better than my first castle creation. :)

Saw this on BrickShelf. I really liked it! So you can tell him that.

It kinda makes me think of the crusaders' fortresses in Palestine... (that would be the palm trees speaking).

All said, great job, and I really wish I had that many tan pieces...

I like it. The palm trees give it a nice desert-like feel. It's too bad the castle is not in minifig scale, but I still think the castle is well designed.

I agree with Josh, my only complaint is that it isnt minifig scaled. However, that doesnt mean I dont like it.
I like the overall design, and the interior is very nice. I am not sure if I like the main gate or not, but I will say its a very creative way to do it. The use of tiles throughout shows a very good attention to detail.
I happen to think its a great moc, especially for a beginner.
My own first creations (MOFC?) were not nearly as nice as this one.

Cedric the bull: "Hahaha Leo we're here to- wtf?"
*and the bulls see some happy knights bouncing at each other with carts*
Cedric (shocked): "I guess we got the wrong KK''

I liked it when I saw it on Brickshelf and now that I see it was built by a beginner, I am even more impressed. It may not be minifig scale, but I have seen a lot of minifig scale MOCs that don't come anywhere close to looking as slick as this. The floor details are great, and the overall look is quite successful. I might drop a few of the flags, but other than that it is great. I think the tree placement is also fairly likely as Palm trees can be planted in any way people want them to be in real life, so why not in Lego?

Thanks for sharing her MOC with us Jail. :D

It's a simple, straightforward bilaterally syymetrical design, but it has the appearance of solidity that actual Lego designs lack. A very nice little Crusader castle and a good basis for expanding to a more sophisticated design.

Yeah you should ask her to make a crusader/arabian camp or village around the castle
I'd say crusader people because we don't really have much to make arabians :S

Ooops! My bad....

Still, that kinda makes it even better.

Concrete evidence of a female Castle builder....

That's rare, you know.
