Here's the first MOC of the thread and my most recent.

Treachery Revealed

This is my second free build for August and a prologue to Erathor's GC5 story.

Here's the story:
News of the new Galainir's treachery was moving around Loreos like wildfire. Erathor was travelling to Licaronia in secret, not Mor-Reni as he'd originally planned to. With the so-called 'Queen' intent on ruling all Roawia with an iron fist, Lord Tathann had sent a message to Erathor instructing him to avoid Mor-Reni. The war-meeting that would precede the hopeful recovery of the Sword of Arondor was to be held in utter secrecy.
With this in mind Erathor had left Mor-Reni with his men and was now on his way to Licaronia. They were taking special care not to be seen by anyone, especially those soldiers in black and red.
"Halt!" Erathor ordered ten men to follow him to a body that lay at the side of the dusty road.
"What happened?" asked Dag, Erathor's standard-bearer.
"He's been wounded badly, by the looks of things." The man's grey hair was matted with blood, blood that appeared to be fresh.
Suddenely the old man's eyes fluttered open.
"Help me, good Loresii," he croaked.
"Of course," Erathor replied. "How far away is your home?"
"It's over there." A gnarled finger pointed to a small tower not far to the south. Erathor's men waited cautiously as their lord gathered up the body.

"Here we are, my lord," Dag said as they approached the tower. "It seems deserted."
"Or in the hands of enemys." Erathor looked around. "Be on your guard," he told the ten who accompanied him.
The door to the tower was locked, but the wounded man produced a key from inside his robes that unlocked the door swiftly. They passed through into an open courtyard, in the centre of which grew a peaceful green tree.
"Through that door." Erathor went the way the man said.

Stairs reached the stone floor in front of them, and it was up these that Erathor went. He listened carefully, always on his guard.
"Elsa," the man suddenely moaned. "Are you here, my wife?"
"Quiet!" Dag hissed, but the man called again.
"Elsa!" He staggered to his feet, not heeding Erathor's warning.
"Here I am," a sinister voice growled. An armed soldier wearing the red dragon of Galainir appeared on the steps above. All it took was a single swing of his axe to cut the poor man's head from his shoulders. More soldiers came up behind him.
"RUN!" Erathor called, and his men turned back the way they'd come.

The dragon soldiers closed in behind as Erathor's men fled into the courtyard. Some were overtaken and killed, but most fought back valiantly. The dead man's head rolled out of the door, a sickening sight. The axe-wielding savage ran up to Erathor, his weapon lifted high. The lord cut with Shard and the smile was wiped off the dragon soldier's face as he fell down dead.
"MOVE!" Erathor yelled above the noise. "GET OUT!" He and his brave Loresii men threw open the outer door and ran towards their companions, who themselves sprinted ahead.

A tired and worn Erathor sat down against a tree, removing his helmet and letting the cool breeze blow over him. He and his men had escaped the soldiers, but none had expected the cruelty those men could show. That old man was innocent, a victim of needless hate. Erathor would arrive at Licaronia as fast as he could, but he wouldn't neglect any other Loresii along the way.

The Mushroom Man

Alright, here's the first part of my GCV story.

Image
LCC - The Mushroom Man by Erathor Pridenar, on Flickr

Story:
Erathor knew he had to rescue Allaeus. As soon as he heard of 'Queen' Galainir's evil treachery and how she'd imprisoned the guests at her coronation his mind was made up. He was supposed to be travelling to Licaronia in secret, but there was no way he'd leave his closest friend to rot in some filthy dungeon. He had to begin a rescue mission.
Once, when he was younger and his father was alive, Erathor had ridden through a dense wood and past a small log cabin in the midst of it. He had been told of the man who lived there, a man who's skill lay in herb-lore and the knowledge of all things that grow. Someone had made a joke about mushrooms, and ever since Erathor had known the secretive old man as the 'mushroom man'. Erathor felt that the mushroom man could help him now.

"Who's there?" A cracked voice came from behind the small wooden door and a bearded face appeared at a small window.
"Ah! I'm a harmless old man, me, and I don't deserve this. Please, don't hurt me!"
"I'm not here to hurt you," replied Erathor. "I'm a Loresii lord," he said, lowering his voice, "and I need your help." The old man grunted.
"In that case, I'll let you in."
The door opened and Erathor entered the small, dusty house. The mushroom man held a knife by his side, prepared for a fight.
"I won't hurt you," Erathor repeated. I need something that can render a man unconsious for a while, ten minutes at least." The man gave a small smile.
"Ah, you need to rescue someone, me guesses. Trying to evade Galainir's soldiers?"
"My friend is imprisoned, and I must rescue him. Please, show me what you have."
Erathor was led into a tiny room full of potions, bottles and pouches of herbs. The mushroom man picked a small vial off a shelf.
"This contains the ground up leaves of the falling flower. Breathe them in and you'll be unconsious for hours."
Erathor smiled broadly.
"I'll take them. How much will it cost?"
"Nothing for a Loresii lord," replied the man. Erathor ignored him and pushed a gold coin into his gnarled hands. The man looked pleased.
As Erathor turned to leave he had a sudden thought.
"There's something else I need," he said, raising an eyebrow. "Give me the strongest wine you have."

I hope you like it! My next MOC should be coming soon :D

Breaking In

Image
LCC - Breaking In by Erathor Pridenar, on Flickr

Erathor had his supplies from the Mushroom Man ready. Now all he needed was a disguise, a way of getting into the prison Allaeus was held in. He did not have long, for he soon needed to be on Illicia to join the Company of the Sword.
Outside of the Royal Palace where 'Queen' Galainir sat in power Erathor came across a lone soldier on patrol. The red dragon on his armour revealed him to be one of the 'Queen's' men. A quick knife to the throat left him dead on the ground, and Erathor was able to wear his armour as the perfect disguise. The helmet was uncomfortable, but he wore it anyway to keep his true identity secret in case anyone should recognise him.

The entrance to the prison was a few metres ahead. So far Erathor had been able to walk freely around the city without any unwanted trouble. He hoped things would stay the same way, but a gut feeling told him they wouldn't.
"Why're you 'ere?" one of the prison guards asked. "You're not a guard!" Erathor had to think quickly.
"I've been sent here to inspect the prison," he said with more confidence than he felt.
"We had inspection three hours ago," the man sneered. Sensing trouble, Erathor reached into his pouch for the vial he'd bought from the Mushroom Man a few days earlier, but as he did so the ill-fiiting helmet fell to the floor. He scooped it up again, but the soldier's eyes had widened.
"You're not one of us!" he exclaimed. His companions ran forward to his side, and together they charged wildly at Erathor. In one fluid motion Erathor tore the stopper off the vial and grabbed a handful of dead plant matter, flinging it into his enemy's evil eyes. The man dropped down, still as death. His fellow guards followed suite.
"Erathor!" a voice called from a cell. It was Allaeus, thinner than ususal but otherwise unharmed.
"Its good to see you, old friend," smiled Erathor. Let's get you out of here."

Breaking Out

Image
LCC - Breaking Out by Erathor Pridenar, on Flickr

"Quickly, Allaeus! Hurry up with that armour!" Erathor's attempt at rescuing Allaeus had succeeded and was going well. His old friend was putting on the armour of one of the dragon guards of the prison, a useful disguise that should allow them to walk freely around the castle. The soldier who'd lost his armour was sitting bound and gagged in a cell, wearing Allaeus' simple brown prison clothes. The other two guards were lying on the floor, still totally unconscious from the lasting effects of the Mushroom Man's vial of crushed leaves.
"There, I'm done." Allaeus stood in the red and black armour looking exceedingly uncomfortable.
"Come on," said Erathor. "Let's finish this properly." He took out the bottle of 'Extra Strong Wine' from under his clothes and poured most of it away into a box of weapons. "Waste of good wine," he said glumly, before taking two goblets from a shelf as well as another bottle, this time of rum. Together he and Allaeus placed the goblets next to the men and the bottles on the floor. Erathor took the rest of the wine and smeared around the men's mouths.
"That should do it," Allaeus grinned.
"How unproffesional. Being drunk on the job is just not right." Erathor had to force himself to conceal the ball of laughter that was rapidly building up in his chest. He managed to control it. "Let's get out of here," he said to Allaeus, and the two of them left the prison mostly unscathed.

A Hidden Terror

Image
LCC - A Hidden Terror by Erathor Pridenar, on Flickr

Garheim. A desolate place at any time, and even more so now Galainir was in power. The snow was thick on the ground as Erathor neared the place marked on his map. One of the crystals that would help regain the Sword of Arondor was supposed to be hidden here, and it was his task to find it.
As he rode, Erathor heard a hollow sound coming from beneath the untouched snow.
"Its here," he said to himself, "and its underground." Tying his horse to a seemingly lifeless tree, he looked around for an entrance to whatever was below. A small cave to his left looked promising so, readying his sword and shield, he stepped inside.
The cave had no back wall that could be seen; it was a long cavern lit only by thin shafts of light that came through cracks in the rocky ceiling. A crunching sound on the floor turned out to be old bones getting crushed by Erathor's feet. He winced and continued on his lonely path, seeing more bones and skulls lying on the ground as he went along.
A sudden pang of fear gripped his heart. A weapon lay in front of him, a weapon that was not used by men.
"Orcs," he said. "Orcs live here."

Cutting Through the Dark

Image
LCC - Cutting Through the Dark by Erathor Pridenar, on Flickr

Erathor hurried on through the darkening cavern, his sword held out in front. Evil sounds came from every direction, and he didn’t know which way to look. The thought of his wife Eleanor at home pushed him on. She would be waiting for his successful return, something he would make happen soon.
Suddenly, a dark figure appeared on the path in front. It was an orc brandishing a curved sword with a hungry look on its face.
“They’ve found me,” Erathor whispered to himself as more of the vile creatures surrounded him.
“For the Glory of Loreos!” Yelling his battle cry Erathor rushed forward, cutting down the first orc and knocking away a blow from another with his shield. Never before had the orcs faced such resistance in the caves they knew so well. Never before had anyone resisted them in such a way. Their prey fought like a mad thing, hacking his way through the mass of bodies that lined the route ahead. Many fell at his feet.
Erathor fought as he’d never fought before, thrusting one way then slicing in the other direction. He raised his sword for a heavy blow when suddenly his foe vanished. Realising that this man would not be such easy meat they disappeared off into the blackness of the caves, and Erathor ran onwards.

I hope you like these guys! The next two parts shall be posted here soon :)
By the way, these are both built for the 'Quest for the Sword of Arondor', something I am taking part in in the LCC.

The Green Crystal

Image
LCC - The Green Crystal by Erathor Pridenar, on Flickr

Somehow, Erathor knew his journey through the dark was coming to an end. He could see a strange sort of light up ahead, a faint green glow. He continued to ready his sword in his hand, wary of danger lurking in the cavern.
He came to a huge opening in the rocky wall, probably twenty metres high. The light was coming from there, so he stepped into the gap, ready to face some hidden enemy. There was no need to fight.
A shrine of pale rock was built at the back of the cave, beautiful and merged with gold. There, in the centre, was the crystal he’d been searching for. It radiated so much light that the orcs could not have come near it, meaning there were no more bones and skulls lying everywhere. Instead, an untouched path led to the shrine, and it was this Erathor walked down. He reached out for the crystal cautiously and then grasped it in his hand. He lifted it high, letting out a triumphant yell of joy.
A sudden thought calmed him down. This had been too easy. Orcs were no guardian of a powerful crystal. What if another challenge still faced him?
To be continued...

The Crystal's Guardian

Image
LCC - The Crystal's Guardian by Erathor Pridenar, on Flickr

After finding and regaining the green crystal, Erathor realised that he had to find a way out of the underground cavern. There was no way he would travel back down that orc-infested path, it was much too risky.
As he searched for another way out he discovered a tiny gap in the rock to the left of the shrine. It was just wide enough for a man to squeeze up it, if he held nothing in his hands. Erathor sheathed his sword and slung his shield over his shoulder. He carefully strapped the crystal securely to the shield, hoping his knots would stay. He began to climb upwards.
The crack was uncomfortably tight, almost unbearably so. It suddenely took a right turn, then began to go upwards again. Erathor could see light coming from a gap in the roof, and it was towards this that he headed.
Erathor breathed a sigh of relief as he climbed out of the dingy cavern. He rested for a moment, sitting down on the ground that had recently been snow-covered.
"Good day, Sir Knight," came a deep voice from behind a rock. Erathor looked up warily and saw a large man in dark armour stepping out.
"Pick up your sword," he ordered. Erathor unstrapped his shield and placed the crystal on the ground behind him.
"What do you want?"
"I want that crystal. you see, I'm its Guardian, and my aim is to protect it at all costs."
"Your no Guardian," said Erathor. "You're just waiting for someone to get you the crystal your too cowardly to retrieve yourself." The man laughed wickedly.
"Clever you! FIGHT ME!" He swung his dark sword at Erathor, then in the same movement drew a shorter one. Erathor blocked and attacked back, forcing his opponent up against the rock. The man stabbed wildly and Erathor had to step backwards, allowing his enemy to move freely. As the man attacked again Erathor kept calm then swung his sword at the right moment. Blood poured from a wound on the man's strong arm.
Erathor put a sword to his throat.
"Leave here," he said, "and don't return. Maybe the mercy I show you will stop your wicked ways." The man ran away south and Erathor went to find his horse, preparing to ride back to Arondor.

The start of a new storyline I'm going to make with Erathor :)

Too Soon To Leave

Image
LCC - Too Soon to Leave by Erathor Pridenar, on Flickr

Story:
Erathor's return home was not as joyous as it should have been, for something was troubling him. After leaving Arondor he'd ridden straight home with his Loresii soldiers and Allaeus, but as they approached Sarenhold they'd had to take a longer route back. A large patrol of Galainir's soldiers where scouting the area, searching for the missing Allaeus and the man who'd rescued him from the depths of prison. This concerned Erathor greatly, for he knew they'd soon arrive at his home and would stop at nothing to take he and Allaeus captive.
This was all in Erathor's mind as he rode into Sarenhold, but it was put aside as Eleanor, his beautiful wife, ran towards him. They embraced lovingly. It was too long since they'd seen each other, much too long.
"I've missed you, Erathor!" Eleanor exclaimed.
"And I have missed you." Erathor gazed into her eyes for a lingering moment.
"What's wrong, Erathor?" Eleanor looked up at her husband in concern, noticing a flicker of worry in his face.
"Is your father here?" Eleanor nodded. Her father had come to live in Sarenhold since passing on his lordship duties to his son.
"He is, but I don't see why that matters."
"You'll see soon enough, Eleanor. We must meet together in private, in the Map Room." Erathor turned to a servant.
"Send for Dormyn Sadurel and Sir Allaeus. Tell them to meet me in the Map Room on urgent business." The servant bowed and hurried away.

The three people in the Map Room with Erathor listened with bated breath as he recounted his tale to them. Allaeus had heard it many times before, but there was no problem with hearing it again. He had, of course, been with his lord as they made their daring escape from Galainir’s dungeons.
“You did well, Erathor,” said Dormyn proudly. “I’ve had many adventures in my time, but yours equal some of the worst.” Erathor smiled, but he soon looked concerned again.
“There is something else I must tell you. I have noticed, and heard, many things on my travels, and some of them are quite disturbing. There has been talk amongst some of Galainir’s men of the man who broke Allaeus, the Loresii knight, out of prison. When I have secretly overheard them they have mentioned a man in Loresii riding over much of Roawia, vanquishing much evil as he goes. I fear spies have seen my recent actions and have led the soldiers here. We saw them only a day ago, interrogating villagers. They will soon be at Sarenhold’s gate, and that is why I must leave.”
"You can't leave," said Eleanor softly, "not so soon."
"But I must. Those soldiers will stop at nothing to take me captive, and Allaeus too."
"I'll come with you, Erathor," Allaeus said. "A couple of Lion-Born sould accompany us too."
"Only a couple," Dormyn put in. His preciously white hair had been recently shaved. "We'll need most of them here if the soldiers break in." Erathor nodded, then looked at his wife's anxious face.
"You'll be fine," he told her, and I'll come back. I can promise you that."

Enjoy guys! :D
