I suggest starting your sorting before you have everything in hand. I found it helpful to do 4 sets in one sitting, and then the remaining 4 when they came in a few days later. Particularly since you've got a new little one in the house, you probably don't have 6 hours to do it all in one sitting ;)

You're also going to need a LOT of very small ziplocks. I was shocked at how many I used up! :tasty:

For the 7 people other than Sschmidt, are we all going to send a few dollars his way to cover the cost of his set? I think it's a nice gesture for all the work he's about to put in. $25/7 is roughly $3.60 each.

Jim, I'll just add that on to what I owe you to minimize the number of PayPal transactions. Remember to send all money as "for friends and family" so that we aren't getting slapped with transfer fees :)

I totally agree with AK on sending the funds to SS. Should we be doing that now or when we send him the shipping money? I would rather do it once (PayPal limits the number of friends and family transactions in a specific time), but I don't want to be putting SS out either. :D

The $3.60 each is just my suggested contribution, not mandatory. If you sent him a $10 set, that's probably more than adequate :)

Jim, I'll keep an eye out for a PM from you!

Schmidt, you're more than welcome to use the "Lego Drafts" Flickr group to run this one. It seemed to work pretty well last time for chit-chat.

Here is the link to the group, for those who haven't joined yet: http://www.flickr.com/groups/legodraft/

Schmidt, I've promoted you to "Draft Master" :)

Thank you, all of you for your generosity. I am looking forward to doing this, but as AK as stated, there really is A LOT of work that goes into it.
I have started sorting, and there is a lot!
AK, thank you for giving me permission to use that group. I had created one, but I am just going to sack it in favor of the pre-made one. For those of you in this draft, I will send you an invite (or is the group public now?) and you can get an idea of how the last draft went.

When the drafting takes place, we will keep a chit-chat in a separate section of FLICKR, so as to minimize any confusion :)

I believe the group is, and has been, public.

This means someone could theoretically comment on the draft photo, but the only people in the Flickr group are from CC and know better, I'm pretty sure :)

Thanks AK,

I've got a few days off, so I hope to have most of the sorting done by the middle of this week (just waiting on the last sets to arrive).

I will seek to add draft participants to our FLICKR group.

If you do not have flickr, you need to make one. Let me know when you do and I will add you to our group.

Draft order has been set!

Post by SSchmidt »

mpoh98

The payment came through :)

We are just waiting on the last three sets to get here. I imagine they will all be here by Wednesday (wishful thinking?). If so, we should be able to start the draft by the beginning of next week. The draft order will be set by using a random number generator from random.org (actually, I'll do that right now!) to determine draft order.

We are getting closer ! :D

EDIT***
Using random.org, the draft order has been set

In order to be fair and unbiased, I placed the names in alphabetical order. I then generated a random number for each person. The minimum number was 1 and the maximum number was 8. If the number they got was one that had already been selected before, I kept generating numbers until they got a number that had not been claimed.
I started with Aeridian and got 6.
AK_Brickster then got 1.
BiggerJim got 4.
Gurusql got 1, but it had already been selected. He then rerolled and got 6, but it had already been selected. For his third roll he got 5.
Lil_Curt got 1, but it had already been selected. His second roll was a 3.
Mpoh98 rolled a 6, but it had already been selected. He then proceeded to roll a 5, a 4, a 5, a 1, a 6, and finally a 2 (whew!).
SSchmidt rolled a 4, a 2, a 6, and then an 8.
Str0ngbad, getting the last number (hey, I didn't choose your name for you!) was left with the 7.

Here are the results.

Aeridian - 6
AK_Brickster - 1
BiggerJim - 4
Gurusql - 5
Lil_Curt - 3
Mpoh98 - 2
SSchmidt - 8
Str0ngbad - 7

The draft order, will then look like this.

1. AK_Brickster
2. Mpoh98
3. Lil_Curt
4. BiggerJim
5. Gurusql
6. Aeridian
7. Str0ngbad
8. SSchmidt

I tried to do this as fair as possible, and even had my wife push the random button for me for a second opinion :)

Thank you SSchmidt getting this set up. Looks like karma came back to bite me - I twisted AK's arm and then he steals my #1 pick. :roflol:

In all seriousness 4 and 5 always have picks coming up and I now know that I will be getting one of my top 5 picks (and I had rated a fair step down on my list from #5 to #6.) :D

Looking forward to the start of this.

Woohoo!! With the number one pick, I select Adrian Peterson! (oh wait, wrong draft)

Now that's karma! I had pick #8 last time, so it seems the ABS gods are having mercy on me this time :)
