LCC-GCV-Garheim-The Fall of Darkstar Keep
LCC-GCV-Garheim-The Fall of Darkstar Keep
Journal Entry:
16 September, Year of the Betrayer(Officially the year of Galainir)
The serenity of the mountains here in Garheim has been shattered today. I thought that the turmoil we heard of at the coronation may not reach as far as Darkstar Keep. Ancestral home of my family, the refuge where I planned to raise my family as well, now in the hands of those brigands from the Magic Isles. The turmoil in my heart is the hardest to bear. With many of my countrymen imprisoned at the capital, I had hoped to hold out and remain steadfast here at Darkstar Keep. Today that all changed….
It was with a whimper that the keep fell. Well, that and the roar of a dragon. Those bastards from across the sea came with a dragon and threatened the lives of all those under my care. The choice was not really that hard once I knew that my people would perish if I made the wrong choice. I was able to broker their freedom as long as I gave the keep in full to the usurpers. Now, I will lead the people into the mountains and we will have to work together to survive through the coming winter. I was able to get out several barrels of grain to help feed us, however we will need to be resourceful and conservative in order to make the food last.
The only thing that seems to keep me going right now is the thought of our return. I made sure to take advantage of the secret passages in the keep to hide what is most valuable to us. And now, I will bide my time and count the days until I can reclaim what is mine…
I had been wanting to build Gabriel's home for a while, and this Global Challenge gave me the perfect excuse!

Wow! I love all the different architectural techniques in there. The curved wall is well used.

Brilliant architecture. You did a great job incorporating different designs to the walls and towers.

The amount of detail, texturing, and size proportions in this build are fantastic. The whole thing just comes off as a wonderful MOC. This is definitely one of my favorite (quite possibly my very favorite) Garheim MOC(s) that I've ever seen.
You have a very good shot at winning this whole thing!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the feedback. Being new to Garheim and LCC I went and looked at some previous Garheim MOC's to get some ideas for an overall style to the faction. I must say(and you can probably see), that Deviet's builds were definitely used as inspiration.

Superb build Kayne! Well worth the wait to see this. I like how you took a different approach for the shape of the castle than what we normally see built in LEGO.
I really like the gatehouse design and the other curved sections are excellent too. The landscape looks very Garheim and I like the bits of snow scattered through the build. Also an excellent presentation

A beautifully presented MOC, for sure.
I love the varying radiuses of curvature of your gatehouse and main front wall. I also like the cross-shaped windows in the gatehouse. The dark red tree provides a welcome splash of color, and the various shades of tan and green for the landscaping fit perfectly with the Garheim aesthetic. The bits of snow are just enough to imply a cold northern summer / early autumn.
I also like the cast of characters, including the mage in the balcony, and that dragon. Great job!
