I wonder if they'll make Santa's Little Helper. I also wonder if having a jazz saxophonist among the series 11 minifigs has anything to do with having a mold already done for Lisa's sax.

The first seasons of The Simpson were in a range of +13 age, also those chapters were funny. Now, I watched some new chapters, the humor is more crude, explicit... well, you know what I'm trying to tell. The point is, why TLG is allowing to release sets of a tv series with all the opposite attributes to their main purpose, as they say, their main target are the TFOLs and KFOLs, no AFOLs.

I know the simpson are so popular in the world, but i can't imagine a kiddo taking the krusty minifigure and playing stories like the Krusty's clown nose was dropped in accident but he blames on it because it still had a little bit of c%c@ine in there, just like the tv episode :/

TLG can do whatever they want for their company to have incomes. What's next? Lego Happy Three Friends? Lego South Park? Lego Drawn Together? ._ .

If so, then the market has an important AFOL percent.

I just read on Brickset that CMF series 13 will exclusively be Simpsons characters set to release in April/May of 2014. I think it's kinda interesting when we thought that series 11 wasn't that great... Maybe we'll get some great/new accessories and pieces. Besides that, a couple changes have been made about the sets, so check out the article.

Wow, that's interesting! Since that pretty much kills the need to buy sets to get the characters, I wonder what the draw of the sets will be? Or maybe this will be the entire extent of the license. We don't have any set-designs announced yet, do we?

If this is true, it has completely killed all interest in series 13 for me. I hope those of you who want this will be happy and enjoy.

I agree completely.

I hope that this is the extent of the license at this point. A one-off minifigure series, and then nothing of it anymore.

I would prefer a Scooby Doo series. (with lots of classic villains)

Simpsons just don't interest me. Looking forward to the next traditional wave.

It's what the Monster Hunters line should have been.

The new rumour is that there will only be one set. A lego exclusive Simpsons house. In my opinion this rumour sounds a lot more plausible than the previous one of 5 or so sets all hitting the usual price points. In reality the draw of the Simpsons is the characters not the locations, so a CMF line makes a lot more sense, than trying to create playsets around the Kwik-E-Mart, classroom or nuclear power plant.

In terms of CMFs I can see them doing a few of Bart and Homer in different guises eg Power Plant Homer, BartMan etc.

This all rests on what the figures actually look like in reality. But I do find it humorous that we have yet to here any official confirmation from TLG have we not?

Actually, it is absolutely not surprising we have no official confirmation. They hold a lot of things close to the vest now. Even the ambassadors do not know information on up coming things. Some of us get press releases the day they are getting released. Those in the world that would know are under NDA's and trust me, you don't want to have LEGO legal heading your way.

With so many other companies emerging in the brick toy industry, I can see them continuing to be even more secretive. They really don't want the competitor to know what they are doing before it is out.

Everything Blue has said is true. In addition to what she listed, there are sites that are not under NDA and are not using the Ambassador program. Some of those nameless sites occasionally receive some advance information and agree not to release said information ahead of time but to help in spreading the news once something is "okayed". This is to keep their relationship with TLG's Public Relations Department healthy. ;)

My 2 cents,
Josh
AFOL and his money are easily parted.

^Exactly. That's what I find humorous. That all over the internet AFOLs are discussing the theme and what it will and won't contain, yet TLG are yet to confirm anything, but we all know (pretty much...) that they will. So why not just come out with it? I guess they still want to protect their product until the very last moment of release, but if competitors/bootleggers were wanting to 'steal' their idea, then all they'd have to do is read what's already online.

I guess we will get an 'official' confirmation in time, but it just feels like the longer they wait, the more is likely to leak, ruining the impact of a surprise announcement (like the Marvel/DC one was. Despite being hoped for, the announcement seemingly came out of nowhere).

While it makes sense to you, you need to remember, the AFOL and TFOL community is NOT the primary target audience for LEGO. We make up less than 10% of their sales. In the grand scheme of things, what we want them to do, really doesn't matter a lot when you consider just how small 10% really is.

And then you also have to consider the nightmare it is for the marketing part of LEGO that online all these adult communities are talking about something no one is supposed to know about yet. Why? All because one person somewhere, violated the confidentiality agreement they had. All it takes is one person to say one thing to someone who is active online and booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom...the whole marketing campaign in ruined. Why? Because AFOL/TFOL's who are active online talk..and talk..and talk. Tis human nature. Yes it is.

And since this IS a license, there may or may not be legal ramifications for the release of information. Or contract restrictions. Who knows?

But...then who is right and who is wrong?

It all comes back to a company who is about making a profit and their wish to protect their products from being copied...so they can in fact make a profit.

Just a slight modification, the original announcements came from official sources. IIRC there was a story in a more business news outlet about negotiations between LEGO and Fox over a Simpsons license, and the director of marketing at LEGO confirmed the negotiation in the story. I think there were also some official communications from Fox about the license deal, and subsequent LEGO announcement that the sets would appear in 2014. So while the specific sets (and I've seen a couple of conflicting stories out there) may well come from someone violating an NDA, the fact of the license was based on official sources, and online speculation would be occuring even if no one ever violated an NDA.
